Hello all, I would like to setup a shark pond. Housing only 1 shark would live sand and live rock be enough or do I need a large protein skimmer. The pond would be about 475 gallons. Thanks

I would say a protein skimmer is a must. Also size depends more which species of shark you intend to keep. That said I would focus more on footprint rather than gallons.

Build a massive protein skimmer, like 20 feet tall, run it with the biggest abyzz pumps, like 4 of them, then never do wc's lol.

But seriously, from what I've seen and read, 475 is a good pond size. Figure out which shark is a must and build the tank around it. Some sharks require chillers, all sharks are extremely sensitive. Hth a bit
