i am setting up a 125 and cant decide if i want a cool bright colored swim tank. like tangs, butterflies, anthiases, stuff that swim alot and are bright or go with a bamboo shark with a ray and eel. my question is what other fish can i put with a shark because i heard you cant have the fish i mentioned earlier. im not interested in having lionfish, groupers. if anyone has experience with banded bamboos and know what type of fish can co-exist i would greatly appreciate it.

maybe i was not clear enough but i want to know what kind of fish are compatible to a bamboo shark. i was just saying i know they are compatible with rays and eels. sorry for the confusion

I wouldn't put a bamboo in a 125 because the shark will outgrow it. Even if you plan to upgrade, I wouldn't. Just wait until you have the larger tank set-up (who knows what could happen between now and then).

Also, if you are seriously interested in keeping a shark, I would recommend reading "Sharks and Rays" and I believe it is written by Scott W. Michael (someone please correct me if I am wrong).

assuming you have a system large enough to support a shark, the tangs, butterflies, and anthias would al lbe fine. what you want to aviod is fish that hang near the bottom. they will eventually become food. Keep in mind that even these fish will be pushing the limits of a 125. invest in a 400 gallon. in the long run it wont cost much more and you will be much happier with it.

I totally agree with Stykthyn I have a 220 with an Epaulette and I am going to have to upgrade this tank within 2 years, it would have been easier to just do it in the beginning....
