Should I go rimless?

Just wondering if I can take the rim off this tank?

DIY brace, somewhat loose. I can easily slide it up and down. There is enough pressure to keep the brace in place but if I apply any pressure on it it moves freely.

DIY tank:
30 x 30 x 24 tall
Glass 3/8" thick
Silicone: GE Silicone type I

Take the rim off or don't risk it?

I think if it is that loose, it isn't helping anyways.

take it off! i've got a similar situation with one of mine and that's what i want to do...

It's serving no purpose, take it off. Be careful leaning on the tank with no bracing though since the tank wasn't technically built to be rimless.
