all of the rock structures are tonga shelf pieces that I brought with me from cali, I have to thank Walt and Tat for those insane pieces, the center piece is 36"x24" and has it's own pedistal base.

Yes they are really very nice indeed.

I am in the process of putting 3 smaller pieces together using putty to make one large shelf. It's a PITA but it is looking really good now. Ill post pics once it is done.

You are VERY lucky to have such great pieces!
 
Here's my current system at 8 months.
I tried to minimize the intrusion of man made devices and provide ample hiding places for the inhabitants. I must have succeeded in that because there are fish I only see once every few months and some of them are 8-10" long!

You can also cement pieces of rock together to form a larger structure that suits you better.

Anyone have a picture of that first tank or Steve Weast's tank before corals were added? Looking to see the rock structure.
 
my new open 'scaping... or at least the best i could do with a tank that is only 26" front to back.... and forgive me for not scraping coraline lately

thanks... this thread kinda got dug up outta the trenches where someone referenced it in the stony forum

i have always admired weasts 'scaping and tried my best to emulate it in my smaller tank as best i could

i've seen some updated pics of weasts tank floating around, but cant find them now... i think his site needs those new pics uploaded too
