Show Off your prop System!

just read all 18 pages of this thread and saw some great tanks and ideas...any progressive pics from past posters or new prop tank owners? This thread is just too sweet to die so...BUMP.

I am attempting to build a prop system and thought I would put in a lot of flow in there. I mean a lot. I have a pond pump and built a square closed loop around it, with drilled holes of various sizes throughout the pvc structure.

The tank is small, a 15G. So I put in the pump and let it run for a day, it has a lot of flow. Tank has no inhabitants at this point, just the eggcrate structure and the pump and it's contraption around it.

So the next morning I check the temp in the tank. 106F !!!!!
I thought it could be the lighting ( Coralife 96W), but removed the pump and all seems well now, temp hovering ~80F.

I was so proud of the thingy I bult though, such a bummer. Anyone need a darn strong pond pump???? :-)

Ciao,

Felipe

Eddy,
What kind of lighting are you using on that frag tank?

I'll have a pic of my setup soon my wife has the camera at work...

Looks like most here are using MH for their frag tanks? Any reason these are chosen over T5s? I'm planning to setup a 20L for zoas and some SPS perhaps, but not sure what lighting would be best. Great pics all, keep them coming.

i live in miami and have started a frag tank outside for softies, i have been able to keep the temp stable and indirect sunlight seems to be working well.

I wish I could use the outside sun. I could but only part of the year so just about the time it got going it would be time to tear it down for winter.

good because i started a small frag bin outside on my patio. it faces the north so does not get direct sunlight and is a covered patio. all the frags that are in there are wide open and look good. I am only fragging zoas and there are a couple chalices in there as well. so far so good, i'm keeping my fingers crossed.

it is gonna get into the low 60's in a few days. I"m hoping that the heaters will work well enough to keep temps above 74 degrees.

Here's mine, fresh for 07!

It's a 24x24x8 with a 20k XM in an ROIII pendant, it's a frag tank but I like to look at it :)
