I put a clown and an anenome in my tank today. I acclimated them both for a couple hours. The anenome has reduced in size by about 80%, the clown is just hovering around the top. The only thing on is my moon lights. Is this a bad sign??
Usually nems shrink when the lights are low, they're sleeping
But just in case, how old is your tank? I see you registered just this month and your experience lists this as your first tank, so I'm curious since nems usually do best in established tanks.
What type of nem do you have? You may need to upgrade your lighting too, but my memory is bad with the more technical stuff, so we'll rely on others' wisdom for that
That is a pretty common reaction. I wouldn’t worry about it if it opens back up in a day or two. It is just trying to get comfortable in its new environment. Shrinking and expanding is how they balance their internal water chemistry and expel waste.
My RBTA has been in place for a bit over nine months and still does it every night and sometimes during the day.
