Shriveled New Anemone

My anemone just fissioned into two separate anemones. One of the anemones is shriveled. The fuzzy picture below shows the shriveled anemone in the center with the healthy one on the right with a Maroon Clownfish.

I have no idea what kind of anemone these are. I suspect that these are Bubble Tip Anemones (BTA) although I have never observed "bubbles" at their tips. When fully extended, the stalk of the anemone has a longitudinal "corduroy" texture. The latitudinal lines in the picture appear only when the anemone is shriveled.

Any suggested treatment?

yikes.

LOOKS to be a bta, pic isent very clear like you said.

Is the shriveled ones foot attached at ALL?

You need to keep a super close eye on it. If it starts to deteriorate you need to get it out of the tank immediately or it could crash the whole tank, and get very cloudy.

how long has it looked like that? mine looks REALLY bad when it is expelling waste. but when mine split they dident shrink until it had a new mouth.

keep us updated.

Stillborn?

Stillborn?

The shriveled anemone separated by fission from the anemone on the right side of the picture. It has been in this shriveled condition since the fission on Friday, October 27, 2006. The picture was taken 3 days later on Monday, October 30, 2006.

Since its “birth,” it has never “puffed up.” It is not expelling anything. The dark green tentacles in the lower part of the picture are its shriveled tentacles. If healthy, it should look just like its twin on the right.

The shriveled anemone’s pink foot is at the top of the picture. It appears to be attached to the live rock. The flow is very high and it would have been carried off by the current if it was not attached.
