I recently purchased a long tentacle anenome, at the LFS it looked amazing. I've had it maybe a month, it looked fine everyday for maybe a week, from then until the present it would look horrible with its mouth wide open and deflated during the day and then perfect at night. But this past week it pretty has crashed looking bad all the time. Its moved around the tank a couple of times in the past couple of days and looks pretty much shot....... Anyone have any ideas??????!?!?!

How is your water quality, have you tested that? How long has your tank been up? What kind of lighting is it under?

The tank has been up since may...I just had the water tested today at the local LFS they said there was small amount of nitrates....but everything else was perfect.....I have 80 watt pc

If you look at the bubble tip anenome post a couple down from mine there is a photo of another members bubble tip....thats basically what mine looks like all the time now...died

There is a post about four down from this one about a sick bubble tip.....if you look at the picture in that post....its pretty much what mine looks like all the time now

Small tank, weak lighting.
Nano's just aren't the best home for nems.
They get big dude, mine is about 20".
Small tanks are hard to keep stable enough.

the pic he is referring to is a BTA expelling its innerds. when an anemone expells its innerds it spells doom for the animal usually. i have seen this exact same action in LTA's / Carpets and so on. it usually ends up being a negitive outcome. typicall reasons would be bad stock / injuried animal / predated / water and or lighting conditions. whatever the reason, the expelling of its innerds is due to extream stress. keep a close eye on it as an anemone that is dying will spike that tank BIG TIME and REAL FAST. if it starts degrading and falling apart, its time to get it out of the tank ASAP. and after removal, check your water conditions asap. you may see an ammonia spike.

yeah....this morning it was on the bottom upside down ....it was pretty bad....i siphoned it out and did a big water change just to be safe......

I know this should be posted else where but could i keep a torch or a hammer in a nano....and if so how hard are they to keep????
