Aside from the sheer annoyance of the commercials, has anyone ever received a free mattress? Why would they possibly give one away instead of beating an advertised price?

Maybe if they didn't play their annoying commercial 50 times an hour I might check them out...

They only have to "beat" thier competition's price...........................so if the price is say.......$899.99, they could offer it to you for $899.98 & they've "beaten" the price.............

I'd imagine they'd take a loss on a sale rather then "give" the mattress away......................

You're right the commercials are annoying.................but they have both of us talking about them...

My point exactly.

I rarely even see the commercials on tv, it's all over the radio!

All their models are exclusive to that chain, even if just the label (name) is different. You won't see them anywhere else, therefore they will only match their own price! I've never heard of them giving away a free mattress, their out is that they are not the same models.

I'm in the mattress biz and I beat them everyday on comparable models, meaning identical or very similar specs.

Exactly true. I knew someone that worked at one, and he told me no other mattress store will have the exact same model #. So there is no price they will ever have to match.

I sleep on my King size Muralux everynight...$4400 no counting sheep here...perfect and yes I got it from Larry...lol

I heard one of their commercials on the way to work today and the one guy was talking like he was pregnant with matresses and that he needed a "c-section operation to deliver the deals"
...........those guys are wierd.
I guess I remembered their wierdo mattress commercial though.
They're killing me Larry

I dont see how advertising ever works.

If you drank Budweiser, what advertising will it take to get you to drink Miller?

And are you going to buy nikes cause you saw it on tv, or because some sports guy wore it?

Your going to buy it cause it looks cool fits good and the price is OKAY, not great not the most expensive.

You going to buy a car cause you heard about it on tv, or because there is a dealer down the street?

Maybe vacation type of ads wsork, like he lest go to cancun this year, or make it jamaica..

But for everyday stuff, nope, it will be force of habit, complacency, and eventually when you get older and wiser, budget...

Funny thing is people still buy overpriced junk and cars that fall apart.

I don't think people would like it if they knew Mitsubishi admitted to putting known defective cars on the road (not once but twice over seven years) or that Ford buys the steel other automakers reject due to impurity contamination.

Somehow seeing fancy commercials of new cars lets manufacturers get away with these things.

It's all about image and name recognition. If your bed blew up today, and you needed a new matress, who's the first place you're going to think of to get a matress?

Except if you live in South Orange County & whatever you're buying is "trendy" or "in style"...................I mean does a $600 pair of sunglasses really protect your eyes any better then a $50 pair???? Certain people in SOC would eat crap if it was thought to be trendy or popular.................
