I dont see how advertising ever works.

If you drank Budweiser, what advertising will it take to get you to drink Miller?

And are you going to buy nikes cause you saw it on tv, or because some sports guy wore it?

Your going to buy it cause it looks cool fits good and the price is OKAY, not great not the most expensive.

You going to buy a car cause you heard about it on tv, or because there is a dealer down the street?

Maybe vacation type of ads wsork, like he lest go to cancun this year, or make it jamaica..

But for everyday stuff, nope, it will be force of habit, complacency, and eventually when you get older and wiser, budget...

Bill

Are you kidding me??? Do you think a billion dollar company like Nike spends millions on endorsements and advertising just for fun?

I heard one of their commercials on the way to work today and the one guy was talking like he was pregnant with matresses and that he needed a "c-section operation to deliver the deals"
...........those guys are wierd.
I guess I remembered their wierdo mattress commercial though.
They're killing me Larry

That was a Bankrup-C section. ;)

Except if you live in South Orange County & whatever you're buying is "trendy" or "in style"...................I mean does a $600 pair of sunglasses really protect your eyes any better then a $50 pair???? Certain people in SOC would eat crap if it was thought to be trendy or popular.................

Steve :D

Sheet... Not me.
I will pay big $$ for something I like (Bikes, beer, and tank stuff) but other than that all these materialistic OC Beotches **** me off.

Id rather get some good authentic food from a dive with lenolium floors and flourescent lights than some psudo wanna be stuff from the Irvine spectrum.
I buy all my sunglasses from Campmor.com b/c I can get some durable Bolles for $29. I get my clothes from TJmaxx or Ross, I've never stepped foot in SouthCoast Plaza (except for Cost-Plus, but again it is a "discount" store).

Yes, most OC chicks really irk me. Not everyone is like that though. Not saying you think they are.. I see the word "certain" in there. Just wanted to add to it.

It's all about image and name recognition. If your bed blew up today, and you needed a new matress, who's the first place you're going to think of to get a matress?

Costco

:bum:

I do.

Are alcohol and or tobacco products suffered any when advertising restrictions were imposed on them??

As for the question of the blown up mattress and who you going to thinkof first, does not matter, you will eventrulally try to think of the closest store...

Product familiarity is important, but you really going to switch soda drinks or underware, becuase of what you see on tv or in a magazine ad???

NPR did a great story about product branding a few months ago. I am sure you could find it for download.

It was about a guy in NYC that used Mitchum deodarnt products until one day he saw a poster on the train after Mitchum started up the 'Mitchum Man' branding campaign. Seeing that the new branding was selling to people he though we jerks, he couldn't even pick up the product in the store any more because he was that turned off by the advertised image it portrayed.

Same for me with Carl's Junior commercials. They are so offensive I would not eat there for free....

I thought I was the only one. I used to love Carls, but now I will make it a point NOT to eat there simply because their commercials are mostly repulsive and disgusting (and plain stupid).

Hahahaha weird! No worries I'm just like dang a lot of old members, half of which were banned hahaha then noticed the dates.

I still learned something from this. Even after all these years. Again, I'm tripped out this was on top, I never look at the dates because I expect them to be at least from this decade!
