Sketchup by google

Mmm... Given all the posts in other threads - Maybe it's time for a sketchup thread... Given I think many of us are still hard at work learning how to use this program.

Post your art, and questions here!

Here's my question - is there any way to adjust the proximity before it 'snaps' to an adjacent line/surface?

Here's one I did recently. This is my existing sump.

I don't know the answer to your question. Actually is your question how to turn off (or adjust) the snap feature? I'd like to know this too.

Jeeze cool, that design puts my google sketchup sumps to shame, lol, i have a hard enough time putting in the baffles in, you even got the skimmer down, lol, i just put in a box that has the same dimmensions :) good work, on a side note, it's an awsome program once you get it down

Yep, pretty much my question... I'm not seeing any way to adjust it though.

However this ruby console could be pretty handy...

Yeah, I've found that a little anoying too. I haven't found a situation yet, where just rotating and zoomed can't get me away from the snap point.

Nice web site. I will have to check it out. I've just getting started with sketchup and have a lot to learn

Heres one of my sump.

I'll answer my original question about adjusting / turning off snap.

Windows -> Model Info - go through options, one can adjust sensitivity and turn it off if desired.

This is a stand I’m looking at building for my 175 bow front. Tell me what you think please. if the upload doesn't work it's in my gallery too.

Thanks. That will come in handy.

Very nice design. I think the metal/wood blend will be nice.

Two structural comments (since you asked :)) First Your going to need some racking support in both dimensions. Second the horizontal trim IMO needs to be thicker to support the span between the vertical supports. I think it looks nicer the way you have it, but I honestly don't think it's strong enough.

It would be cool if people posted their Sketchup files so other people could copy things like skimmers and other items. Or make a library or reef tank images. It would save a lot of time. I will post mine when I get a little further along.

How do you add curved edges to something? I was trying to recreate my dresser in Sketchup the other day and all the edges of the doors and handles are rounded. I couldn't manage to do that. :(
