I have the option to purchase a DOC 9005 or the Classic DOC 9205. Any perferance on the models? Both are rated for 135 Gallons.

I have a 55 gallon tank with mostly soft corals and a plumbed sump. However, the sump has a hieght of 17 inches. Remember folks at home, measure twice, cut once. Repeat after me.... :rolleye1:

So I need a nice powerful skimmer that will fit under the height template above, and the tunze 9005 (14.8") and the 9205 (7.7") fit this task.

Thanks for the advice.

The 9005 is more powerful. The 9205 functions only in a closed loop plankton safe mode. The 9205 is best for soft corals and LPS, the 9005 is best for most everything else. The main problem you may have with the 9005 is it needs about 10" of water to run, the 9205 only needs 3.5"
