Skimmer opinion ... Octopus Extreme or BM160?

This is going on my 58 gallon reef with about 20 gallons additional in the sump. Bio load is light to moderate. I have a mix of some softies, LPS and SPS corals.

I am currently using a TurboFloater and it is working but I am spoiled by the performance of my EuroReef in my FO tank.

I am considering the following unless someone has a better option in the same price range ($250-$300).

I am leaning towards the Bubble-Magus BM160.

Bubble Magus BM160

msx 160 would be perfect on your tank for 269.00 personally think best bang for your buck ....and I too love my euroreef !!!!

I love my octo 200. No mods and works great right out of the box. Dial it in and forget about it. You can find them for under $300 if you look in the right places.

loved my euroreef as well, too bad it doesn't fit under my tank.

Is this the skimmer you are selling? If so PM me the information on it.

aerius007, That is a great picture for promoting the 200.

I like the fact it has the 8" body and a large collector neck. It is definitely in my consideration.

Salty Critter has about the best price I have found at $285.

$285 is good, I think I paid $279 and had to have it shipped. It might be more than you need for your setup but if you upgrade you'll be set. I didnt do the meshmod. I'm sure the other two you mentioned would work great also, I can only comment on the 200.

How about for a 75 gallon tank? Would u guys recomend the 160 or 200? I am planning a new build and would like to get into sps.

MSX-160 would be plenty on tanks up to around 90 gallons, and should even carry a 125g.

However, if it was me personally... once you get to 90 gallons I would go with the MSX-200. I used the MSX-160 on my 90g tank (120g total system volume), and it worked fine, but I would have rather had the MSX-200... I just didn't have the room for it in my sump.

Currently I'm using the MSX-160 on my 40g tank (prob around 70g total system volume).

This was about 3 days on my 90g tank:

This is probably about 4-5 days on my 40g tank:
