skimmer plumbing question

On the gate valve, what part is it called to connect the gate valve to the box on a becket skimmer. Whats it called?

I have a bulkhead to attach the gate valve, will this work? Or will it leak over time?

I noticed that manufactured skimmers use some pvc wich they glue to the acrylic, pvc can be glued to acrylic?
