Does anyone have skirtless People Eaters? I have visited my LFS and bought a frag of skirtless PE. it has distinctive green mouth and dark purple color. I am wondering if anyone has seen them before or would advise on care of them. I will try to post pics tomorrow.

it doesnt have great colors - dark purple with green mouth, but the lack of the skirt caught my eye on them. at first, I thought there was a problem with them. when i asked the salesman why the skirt is missing he gave me a weird look and said that the polyps are closed. but they were open.

sometimes i've seen some polyps that went through a lot of stress , if you would say lose there skirts in a way. kinda looks like a polyp tube with the head.

I would like to see pics also.....

Dont exactly know what to post about said new polyps without them.....

No skirts?

I would have to guess they arent open all the way, as the salesman said, but pics would be great on the subject.

I did have a zoa colony that was missing parts of its skirt once. I believe it was from the big nudi I pulled out of it. Maybe check for nudibranchs.

I will post pics tonight once I get home from work. I mean I have seen zoa being nipped by a tang and missing parts of its skirt, but that does not look like anything like that.

now, I may lean towards "stress" factor since their mouth were open when I saw them in the store - but once they settled down for few hrs last night, the polyps started looking normal with mouth closed.

I have a couple PE's that's doing that since I just got it in the other day. shipping stress.

I also have a frag of other PE's that were recovering from tank issues that did the same.

Don't know, some of the polyps on my little colony already recovered some still showing sings. you can see some TINY skirts appearing.

here are the pics:

To me they don't look skirtless so much as not fully extended. It appears the polyp is still "rolled up" at the top. The tentacles of the skirt could well be there still.

after watching them for few hours and looking at the pics - I must agree with you that it looks like skirts are "rolled up"
