Smokin' IN the tank

A minute or two after the actinics came on I caught what looked like small smoke rings coming from between the branches of a Caulestrea. It is not in an easy place to see but there was a snail in the branches. I believe he must have been blowing the "smoke rings"--about a dozen puffs about 8-10 seconds apart. Is this reproductive activity???

yes. You may have a stomatella snail---they look like a slug with a shell 'saddle' on their back. And move quite fast for a snail. They puff like a locomotive. I lost mine in a house move and really wish I had some more.

Thanks. Yes, what I could see was mostly the "slug" part, but I could see some sort of a half-hidden shell. I guess it was a hitchiker, because I never put them in my tank. I love finding new things!
