Smooth's 29 gallon build!

The Jebao WP10 showed up rather quick. Not sure what to make of it just yet. Hard to really determine if it will provide enough flow when their are no corals in the tank. I uploaded 2 videos showing the flow at the highest setting. W1 mode with S1 speed mode, with the dial turned all the way to the left (short pulses). One video with the pump placed in the center of the tank. The other with the pump placed on the left side. Do you think I'll have enough flow with this pump?

Maybe the chromis, green goby or royal gramma. Whichever of the 3 I can find locally. At worst I will head to Neptunes in Milipitas. I do want a flame angel but my tank is probably too small....still

In my opinion you should check out citrinis clown gobies, I like them much more than green Clown gobies.

In my 29 gallon reef I have 6 green chromis, 6 pj cardinals, and 1 yellow watchman goby.

No bloom yet. I just got the lights in today, thinking that is why. I'm not even going to use the lights just yet, till I have some coral or a fish in there. Might be a few weeks. I'm hoping by this weekend ;)

However, my nitrites still haven't come down yet. Still high past 5ppm.

Looken awesome man! I'm also going with the photon 24 for my 29g so it's refreshing to see how it looks on your tank! Kinda wish I did the API master kit for cycling. I went with the red sea. My ammonia has dropped to zero on day 5 and and can only see nitrites up to 1. Suppose I have to wait till they are zero anyways. Keep up the good work!

Oh also, what did you use to hang the photon with? I know it comes with a hanging kit, but I was thinking of doing something like you did with the black frames out of the back.

It's the AquaticLife Hanger. I like it a lot! I have the lights hanging 8" above the water. No shaded areas/dead spots whatsoever. I think I can even drop the lights a tad closer, say 7", but that would give me less room above the tank to work with.

Here is what the back of the hanging kit looks like. The pic is before I put in the hanging bars that slip into the metal tubes. The height is adjusted by the knobs.

Dont wish for the API! Lol, I've read that the Red Sea kit is 10000 times better. This build is costing a lot, I had to be frugal somewhere.

Here is a close up of the knob where the height of the hanger is adjusted. Also a close up of the carabiner. I zip tied it for support. Dont want the lights sliding down.

Day 16: Nitrite is dropping! The color of the sample is right between 1 and 2ppm. I will be testing again late afternoon. As I know nitrites should drop rather quickly now. If it gets to 0 this evening, I will dose 1ppm of ammonia and check tomorrow if both ammonia/nitrite get to 0 in less than 24 hours.
