Snorkeling in Eilat - The Red Sea LOTS OF PICS

Hey guys, I just returned 2 days ago from Israel where I spent over a month. In the desert portion of our trip we took a detour to Eilat and went snorkeling in one of the coral reserves. It was kind of amazing to see that coral reefs just dont occur in the tropical areas like the south pacific, but also in the middle of the desert.

I used a friends camera and it was my first time taking underwater pics so not all of them were too good. The reef started about two meters from the beach but there were docks made so snorkelers can walk over the reef and then get in the water.

Enjoy!

yea steve as i walked out to the docks and saw through the water all the purple tangs and butterflies i started to freak out lol

WOW! Very nice pictures, next time try to get closer. Thanks!

i tried but it was very hard to without any fins! some spots were 30ft + so when i got to the bottom it was harder to get a good shot and there were many waves so i didnt want to crash into coral in front of me

thanks for sharing ! amazing how shallow and close to land the reef is huh ?

yea it was very close!

That is the kingdom of Jordan in the backround btw. We climbed a mountain near eilat and was able to see israel, the red sea, jordan, egypt, and saudi arabia. pretty amazing
