Wife and I went to Mexico in january and found a little place called Akumal that not many seem to know about. The place is a protected lagoon where large green sea turtles feed daily. There is also a small inlet lagoon near by that harbors tons of fish and bunch of coral islands that have purple 6 foot long seafans growing on them.

Unfortunately.... i forgot my camera battery..... and it was too far to go back to the hotel to get it :(

So I bought a 1 time use underwater camera and took some shots, they are crappy but i'd like to share anyways. Hope we have better luck next year.

P.S. in the lagoon, fresh water from a cenote mixes with salt and get very blurry

Turtle bay is about 4-9 feet deep. Inlet got as deep as 25 feet where lime rock caves callapsed but for the most part I could stand up. It was very up close and personal. The deeper you got the bigger the critters were. Along with the turtles we saw sting rays, eagle rays, some fish that looked like F/w angel fish but silver and about 2.5 feet accross, we followed them for about an hour as they seemed to think we were part of their school. Countless tangs, parrots, wrasses, goby, I even stepped on a flounder.
