Snowflake clowns.. More fragile?

We went to get our clownfish for the tank today. Fell in love with a pair of snowflakes. The girl at the store who seemed pretty educated said due to the cross breeding they aren't as tough/hardy as others. She said they have a tough time with strong currents and are much less likely to house and mess around in free flowing corals and such. Is this accurate info? I got scared off and walked away without them to due some research

Sounds off base to me. The downside to captive bred clowns is usually visual deformities. Clowns without a natural host will find whatever they want to host.

I can't agree with the salesperson. I've owned regular snowflakes before and currently have a Black Snowflake and Frostbite (Snowflake x Wyoming White hybrid) pair of clowns. They are just like other Ocellaris clowns.

With all the tank breed clowns I have kept I see no differences in how hardy they are. I have kept black ice, misbars, and regular ocellaris. All of my clowns love the flow in my tank and seem to play in it.

My black snowflake is just as tough as the other 5 spotcinctus clowns.. Sometimes at high flow zones he looks like he's struggling with current, but he's loving it.. I see him go in there often to play.

doesn't get hosted tho.. I'm not sure why.

Only the orange ones - the black ones from Darwin, Australia are almost certainly a currently undescribed species.

Not so sure about this (though I'm open to the possibility of them at least being a sub-species). Has any genetic testing been done?

I actually happen to have a wild caught female Darwin that has formed a mating pair with a wild caught orange occy. From what I have observed, behavior is essentially identical to regular ocellris, along with host anemone preference. At the very least, they are closely related and have identical care requirements.

i can only agree with her if the clown is very deformed, i could see the long fin clowns haveing a hard time with flow, and even stubby clowns.
