So here it is....150 Rimless Reef Savvy build thread

Even though it seems you hate plumbing, you did an amazing job.

thanks! going to cut out the white parts this weekend to replace with gray sced 8-.

NICE!!! Love my Reef Savvy. What size is that sump?

its a 30 gal reef savvy

Wow looking great

thanks

can you explain what the 6 valves are for? Looks great btw!!!

Sure, From R to L on return line

1. External skimmer feed
2. Carbon reactor feed
3. GFO
4. Acclimation drip line
5. Feed to adjacent frag tank

Bottom valve
6. overflow herbie adjustment

Very nice tank and build

Are you going to keep the frag tank low to the ground and use gravity to feed it? Curious to see how to connect up your frag tank.

Looking forward to seeing more pics

My frag tank will be low, a look-down style tank for clams, nems, and zoas. Its a 2'x2'x8" it will be fed by the return pump on my main tank through the far left valve on the manifold. then gravity return either back to the original sump, or under into a refugium that gravity feeds to the sump. My return pump pushes 2500 gph so i have more than enough flow to accommodate everything off one pump by the use of the extended manifold system

Sounds like a plan to me.

is this seam failing???

it seems to allow water/air under the silicone flap. it is not where the glass to glass meets just under the interior seam of the tank i think. Should i be draining my tank?

I noticed a few other areas around other seals that are similar but much smaller. :sad2::sad2:

thats an mp 60 on the side for size reference

Call Felix, but like you said it doesnt seem to be affecting the glass to glass seal.

Call Felix !

i left a message with them a few days ago, still haven't heard back but I'm sure he's traveling for the holidays. I'm just worried more so because the tank is rimless, if it starts to go i don't know if it will be a slow process. Don't think i have enough towels for 150 gallons and my landlord wouldn't be so happy

I have been watching it and it doesn't appear to be growing. i have marked off the areas on the tank and will possibly suspend my build for now.

This throws a :mtool: into everything but im looking at it as an opportunity to start work on the frag tank and stand in the meantime.

yea that's why i haven't hit panic mode. Just been taking it as it comes. Felix and the ReefSavvy team do awesome work and their product really stands out as a work of art as well as quality. i look forward to having the issue resolved and moving forward with the build

Update:

First off, i just want to make it clear to everyone that this tank is a USED tank. It is about three years old It has been moved at least three times. I want to also make it clear that it has been running (2) mp60s on wave mode and a 2300 gph pump. This tank has been rocked! I dont believe it is anyway a defect in craftmanship, but rather one of wear and tear. Felix did an amazing job building this tank, and i can't wait to complete my build.

Felix called me back and he is a true class act, even taking the time to call me from Hospital. That is serious commitment to customer service
He gave me a ton of options and walked me through how to go about each one.

Now it's just a decision on our part about how to proceed. more updates to come. Will be taking a break on the tank this weekend to do some scalloping over on the west coast. Hope to come back with 10,000,000 tiny blue eyes starring at me. Happy Holiday weekend, and Happy Reefing!

She has been up and running for two or three months now. Seam looks exactly the same. Love the tank. Have some nice tangs a trigger, wrasse, and a bunch of cardinals and chromes. Moved a couch into the room where the tank is so we can sit and watch it. Its mostly softies in there now but she's running! Pics to come soon.
