So This Is My 150 - lots of pics

1st, Fantastic display and I'm certain plenty of hard work behind it.

I also added a rack of 3 20 gallon long (30x12x12) tanks (frag on top, refugium in middle, and kalk top off on bottom). For this new frag tanks lighting I dove into the world of LEDs. I built it using a 6x9 heat sink, 12 Cree 3 watt LEDs, dimmable driver, aluminum chassis, acrylic protective shield.

Do you think that is enough light for a 20L display tank or would you recommend doubling it? I have seen people run 2 rows of 12, but never quite the way you setup your frag tank.

Thanks...
LEDs have only been over frags for about a week, so it may be to soon to tell how things will end up. However, so far everything seems happy and colors are looking good.
I think the 12 LEDs should be enough for this tank. I do put the more demanding frags directly under the light and the less demanding on the outer edges. I am getting a decent spread of light over the tank. I have not put any optics on the bulbs, and the fixture is only ~8" off the water. The combo of close to water and no optics seems to be working (for the moment).

That is one nice tank and set up,let me know if you are willing to sell your frags if you have lots of outgrowth. One word,Awesome, cool aquascaping on your sps and impressive growth on zoos and definitely TOTM.

Thanks a lot, I appreciate it!!!
Selling frags, but local only, so unless you live in Southern Cali...

Wow, looks great! One quick question for you, how do you manage to keep the mushrooms under control from spreading everywhere? I"m thinking maybe there just isn't any room for them to settle or move to, but just curious if you actively did anything to keep them from taking over. I'm trying to thin mine out and keep them contained to a certain area, but it is not easy! :)

Anyway, beautiful tank, and definitely an inspiration.

Hey thanks!
There are plenty of little clusters of mushrooms spreading throughout the tank. I have tried to keep it under control, but not much I could do. Fortunately the SPS growth has kept it at bay for the most part. I do have a few issues where the mushrooms are stinging things, but nothing to bad.

After hearing a few concerns about the heat sink being completely enclosed (which BTW was a bit of a concern of mine as well), I decided to open it up. I cut out the top and mounted the heat sink to the sides of the cut-out with some L-Brace the length of the heat sink, attached to the fins. Some updated pics.

Great looking tank loving all the small colony's in there. This tank has the makings of a TOTM written all over it........Congrats

Great looking tank, i got a similar set up and man thats a heavy bio load for a 150 but it seems to work well for you....once again, great looking tank

very beautiful tank. i got so into the fts that my wife thought i was looking at inappropriate websites... :frog:...... did you use dielectric grease to help transfer heat on the LEDs?

:thumbsup:I like it! I love sand beds. I went over this thread and could not find some info I was interested in. How long have you had the T-5's on this tank and did you ever run MH and how long if you did? What is your photo period? Have your nitrates started going up as the tank gets older? Do you run Phosban? What are your nitrate and phosphates(Hana meter?) levels at? Looking forward to your response:) This is one of the nicer t-5 tanks I have seen, although I don't get around all that much:(
