Solana tank owner thread.

thanks!

thanks!

Thanks much for the confirmation, 150W it is. I kinda feel like i know you guys after reading all your posts/threads. I went with the solana, espresso stand, and 20" 150W sunpod. I'm completely new to saltwater (in fact i haven't had a fish tank in over 10 years), so very excited. I want to start very simple/easy, so thinking just live rock, a couple clowns and some softies. Thanks much!

Hey guys I have a quick question about my skimmer upgrade... I have the sapphire aquatics skimmer for the solana and it has been running for about 2 months now and the pump is getting progressively louder each day... anyone else had this kind of issue before?

Just got an email from Saphire having a similar problem, take the pump apart and clean the impeller and inside where the impeller goes into the pump.

I have a similar Issue where my pump Is starting to sound like a locomotive, Kinda chug, chug, chug If you Imagine the airline noise sounding like that! It also Is showing up In my electronics as a fliccer In my faceplate of my controller, Very weird to say the least, And I have already cleaned my pump very well so any thoughts???
Bill
PS This Is a Sapphire Skimmer too

Very nice. Congrats on the purchase!
Welcome to the Solana crew!

Good luck with the setup and take some pics when you get it up and running!

Hey, glad to see a Solana thread! I had a 24 and a 12 gallon jbj nano cube that I combined together into my new Solana. I found a deal for tank (with everything) and stand for $100. I have it lit with a 250w reef optics pendant 14k. Hope to learn more from you guys......Here is a pic of it. Some of the corals were still getting use to the move.

John, Looks like a great start. (Certainly better than my start :) ) Any reason you have your heater in the display area rather than in the heater slot in back?

Really haven't messed with it much.....the heater that is on there is too big, gotta get a smaller one. I am bored now, I may do it! :) Is there a slot? LOL

There is a slot for the heater between the skimmer and the middle chamber towards the front of the tank.

Lots of us have used the 2nd chamber as a fuge. Before I added my above tank refugium/sump, I had ChemiPure and Purigen towards the bottom and then put cheato above that. I used a JBJ Nano Glo light and it worked great.

Sounds great.......thanks Michael, anyone have pics.....I would love to see the set-up.

Michael, just looked at your set-up......GREAT!

lanespd200, Thanks again. My reef club's frag swap is this weekend so hopefully I can pick up something nice to add. Maybe an Acan? Been mostly the equipment side of changes for me lately.

Anyone drill their solana yet? There was talk about it from a few people but haven't seen it done. I don't really want to be the first to try but Im sick of the false wall ;)

Just white balance it before you take pictures with the camera. Unless you "wanted" to buy a new camera... ;)

OK I'll try to fool with It a little, It actually took better than this B4 so maybe It's just out of whack right now.

Also thank for the Kudo's, It looks better than the photos thank goodness.:beer:

We all start simple.

Then slowly we all dive off the deep end with coral.

I just picked up some new frags from a friend today. now to find rockspace for them :)

Real Estate gets scarce real quick In these little tanks, May need to add a second story addition soon or start gluing frags to the glass...
