Just FYI, I have seen a lot of nano users perfer the 2 parts dose rather than the dose pumps which could go wrong very quick.

This all really depends on the paticular dosing pump you choose. Some are reliable while others are not. Dosing pumps definatly have their advantages is setup and used properly.

cerobbins, you are right, the good quality pumps will dose more accurate, but pumps are pumps, even you maintain them very carefully, it still will go wrong. maybe is okay with big tank but not for nano. I think the dosing pumps will be much safer to be used with CA/Mg/ALK in-line monitors and PLC logic control. have no idea how much of the probes cost.....

I will have to take picture of the back chambers in a bit. Basically, there are two times the water is pumped over the back of the tank. Once to pass over media and once to pass through the chiller. Both return directly to the display through the returns.

What is a nice recommended heater for a solana? I live in the desert where it doesnt get that cold in the winter which lasts less that 5 months.

In my 4 year old FOWLR I do not use any heater at all, but on my solana since I have corals I will have to watch out for low temperatures during the winter.

Yup, I am using that one also. I went with the 100 or 150 watt one(I forget) cause the other are a bit to long for the third chamber.

What's the size of this heater, lengthwise, you'll want make sure it is not too long for the back chamber where the heater goes.

I had good luck with them on my 180, I used a 300 and a 500 for 4-5 years and they worked flawlessly. The controller for them is another story though, it failed after a few months so I used my aquacontroller to run them.

Mine worked for a week before it went bad. Should have done my homework as I would have known this. Can not believe such poor products are made and sold to the consumer.

Question, I have the 150 watt pendent with 14k bulb over my 34 solana, If i wanted to upgrade to 250 watt 20k, would i just change the ballast and bulb. Would the current 250 watt EB just plug right in or do i have to wire stuff up ?
One more, 20k is a good choice for LPS right ? I am not realy looking for crazy high par, i just want a nice crisp blue ( that makes all the colors pop, and the obvious..keep lps happy!
