Solana XL

If you think its too expensive, then its not the tank for you. Move along...

I can afford it. I don't want it because it is a rip-off. Why are you talking smack? You live in Oklahoma City:lol:

:strooper:

The reason I find it overpriced is because I can build a 70 gallon rimless for 280 and have the same quality of these tanks. To each his own I guess

you need to see the difference in a quality high end tank vs. a std. tank. after that you'll probably change that statement that a tank is just a tank.

Amen.

I wasn't talking smack? I stated it plain and clear, if its too expensive, then its not the tank for you. I never said you couldn't afford it, please don't put words into my mouth.

And what does living in Oklahoma City have to do with anything?
Why is that funny?

I'm curious to know the details of this tank, and what makes it the same quality as a Current-USA tank?

The second post is another example of why my signature comment is so very, very true...

At least you're proud enough of where you live to include it in your profile...

The way I look at it is this. IF you absolutly have to be one of the first owners of the new system you are going to probably pay more then msrp. I am reading some price up to 2500 for the xl60, LFSs know there is high demand right now and they have the advantage atm. Wait a couple months and it will fall back in line. Who knows if the economy doesn't turn you might even be able to get below msrp. Good LFSs sell equipment cheaper because they make most of thier money off live stock and rock in the long run.

Giga, are you talking about your DIY homemade tanks?
I read your DIY thread and your work takes incredible dedication and skill, not something most of the people looking at these Current-USA tanks can do. Glad its a better option for you though, your work is really nice!

How about you setup a company and start producing these less expensive AIO tanks and offer them up to those considering a Solana XL? Give Current-USA some good ole competition. Your craftsmanship is very good, I'm sure you'd do well and sell a lot.

When can we expect you to start taking orders?

cost is all relative to each individual. some ppl find that AIO tanks such as Nanocubes/Aquapods are overpriced for what they offer. i don't see what's the big deal if a person whats to drop their money on a particular tank, whether you think it's worth it or not.

it's their money and let them spend it how they want.

I agree, and its good to hear people's opinion on what they think it too expensive and get their feedback on what is cost effective to them, but when you compare other tanks and systems that are not fair comparisons, thats when it becomes nonproductive.

When we start comparing DIY tanks, ELOS tanks, or GlassCages tanks to a Current-USA tank, its not really the same, not an apples to apples comparison. But again, its good to hear the feed back and what others think they can get for the same price etc...

But this thread isn't to bash the price of the tanks. If I got someone from Current-USA on here to list out all the things included in the price and line item it out piece by piece, I'd dare you to compare your system to it and see if the prices match or not.

Here's what I mean: these are two tanks that I made from the ground up. total cost was 600$

Edit: didn't see that you saw my thread. I would love to start my own company BUT I just don't have that kind of start up cash(have thought about it though)

Are you mocking me? or complimenting me with this sentence?

I know what you meant! Are you ready to mass produce them?
Are you ready to put a price on your time and effort to build them over and over for others to have in their homes?

What all does that $600 include? (Stand, skimmer/sump, ato, lights, etc?)

It includes both tanks, stand, finished plumbing,sump-pump-phosban reactor, and foam rock walls.

Are you a like sponser for them or something?

Not to burst anyone's bubble, but current products really aren't the greatest.

But for the right price they fit the bill. The 34g solanas are not bad for $600-$800.

But $1800 + for the Solana XL 60 is obsurd. For that price I'd go with an Elos 70.

(THIS IS JUST AN OPINION).

......thought I'd start using a disclaimer

Only thing is the complete elos 70 system is around 2900 dollars...

Exactly...and isn't the 70 just a 20 gallon tank?

I think Current-USA has the price about right for what all you are getting, they've done their research.

And no I'm not a sponsor, flattered, but how would little ole me with my first tank ever sponsor them? ;)

I do like some of their products, but realize there are some other top of the line stuff out there, but overall they make really solid products. I just don't get the bashing of something that is not fully understood. Thats all. ELOS tanks are "wow" and so is the price! You pay for what you get.
