Some Maui pictures

I just got back from a little more than a week in Maui. I brought my camera over there and got some decent pictures... nothing too amazing but it was fun.

Up here in Alaska, I havent had the camera long enough to shoot in the summer time, so it was interesting to go to Hawaii and shoot with some sunlight and warmth :)

They are lower quality because I emailed them around to my family, but I have the high res versions as well.

These are just the ones I got done this morning before I had to come in to work, I'll stick some more in this thread later on, more scenery shots.

This plane did a flyby while we were whale watching!

Anyway, I've got some better ones coming, I hope, I havent even gotten to look at everything yet :) When I get home from work in 8 more hours I'll look at them and see if I've got anything else good to post.

This one is my favorite- I like the shallow depth of field and how the subject is centered (something that usually bothers me)

Cool photos- thanks for sharing em with us Recty.
:)

Thanks guys :)

Not bad for a bunch of hand held impromptu shots, imo. Especially since I'm still a beginner ;)

I've got some more I'm going to go through tonight and hopefully post up, I think I got some good sunset pictures at one point.

I wish I had a zoom, this baby whale kept breaching, they said that the babies do it until they basically wear themselves out. This little guy breached at least 6 or 7 times while we were watching in just 2 or 3 minutes, but my 24-70 is NOT a zoom :(

Anyway, thats about all I got that was good :)

Thanks :) The real orange sunset I messed with in Photoshop as I imported the RAW file, I upped the saturation a little and upped the blacks as well so you couldnt see any detail in the trees.

He shoots! He scores!

My fav sunset is the 1st one. The focal plane on the orchid (last pic in your 2nd post) bothers me, probably because I like the rest of the shot. The glass octos in the pic of the acrylic butterfly plates look like they could make for interesting subjects with their many curved reflective surfaces.

Whales are awesome. One day I will get my own tail shot.

I find the lack of EXIF info annoying but that's my problem.

Thanks for sharing.

The EXIF info is weird... I can see it in my last set of pictures but not in the new ones.

Oh, I know why, I used Outlook to compress those images and then I downloaded them at work and uploaded them to Photobucket.

The second set of pictures has the EXIF info though.

Thanks for the nice words though!
