Some New Tank Photos

ok so they get fed well.
very nice growth!
the pellets are keeping n and p down low, obviously, what are your n and p levels?

N and P are virtually 0. I just tested with Salifert.

The odd thing is I'm having a major battle with bryopsis.

Just looked at your shots again, so nice and healthy..
Maybe the bryopsis is pulling out the nutrients before they can register on the test kits..
Very jealous of your nice and simple set up - and the results!

whats your maitenence schedule?

Weekly 30% water changes. Change out filter sock and clean skimmer cup once a week. GHL Profilux doses B-Ionic 2 Part.

It could be reefmutt. I might try the Kent Tech M route to get rid of the bryopsis. Unless anyone else has some better advice.

I can't pin point where the excess nutrients are coming from since I make sure my fish eat all the food within 30 seconds of putting it in.

I finally got rid of my bryopsis. Kent Tech M wiped it out after two weeks. Here's a top down shot.

:eek1: Looks wonderful! That's a beautiful and inspirational reef.

Thank you for sharing. Looking forward to more pics!

That looks superb!

A page or so back, ie sometime Dec last year, you mentioned that the Radion LED's made the coral colours pale...is this still the case or do things look better in that respect?

Thanks Sahin. I think the Radion Gen1s do a decent job with color from a top view standpoint, but from the side, it looks paler compared to T5/MH. I will try the Pros soon.

Beautiful top down shot!

Tank is coming along nicely.

What dosage of Kent M did you use?

Thanks,
André

Thank you André. I brought my magnesium up to around 1650/1700 (about 100 pt increase per 24 hour period). I held it there and it quickly attacked the bryopsis. My fish/corals/inverts survived with almost no issues.

Nice! I love the top down shots.
Tanks looks super clean.

Thanks reefmutt :)

Love they rock work .... For some reason I have a hard time not putting alot of rock in my tanks ..... I guess just former space or places to put more corals .. Anyway very inspiring

The Radion Pro will improve your coral colours due to the additional Actinic LED's, but the effect you described above, wont be eliminated.

The reason I say this is because of the very directional nature of LED lighting. The issue is that most of the light is being aimed straight down; with MH and T5's, the light goes pretty much in every direction.

With my T5's, I have very good amount of light in every direction. Even in the corners of my tank, I get at least 155 PAR.

With MH, even though it is a point source; there is a large amount of light ie 250w of it, and the reflector brings most of it towards the bottom, but most areas of the tank will be lit up much better than LED's.

Beautiful SPS display, nice to see you're not treating your reef like a chemistry set to play with and taking the simple approach. I like to see beautiful reef displays rather than beautiful sumps packed with wiz bang equipment, well done.

Thanks for the kind words BrentH. I do like the open layout.

You hit the nail on the head Sahin. The directional nature of LEDs cause the corals to lose volume and color as you move away from summit of each branch. Hopefully, someone can come up with a technical solution in the future.
