Some photos

Great photos, I am sure you have been asked, but what lens?

Sorry for the late response, just noticed this... most are with the Tamron 90 macro.

I need to get a macro lense for my camera. I tried getting shots like those but my lense won't allow me to get those shots

What lens do you have? It is impossible to get the extreme close-ups without a macro, but you can still get amazing shots with other lenses.

Another side of the hobby (photography) that I'm looking to pick up lol. Stunning pics/work!

Thanks!

Awesome photos! I just started the hobby and got addicted right away... seeing such wonderful photos only fuels it more... Cheers

You need to get the Canon Zeiss Lens - my brother has the Zeiss lens and the picture and color really pop. Your picture are already amazing already though :)

Amazing!! Love the pics and your fine collection of fish and coral.

Thanks!

Great looking pics
What settings are you using to shoot

I use lots of different settings... generally, I shoot in manual, set WB to 10,000k and further correct in PP, and then adjust aperture, shutter speed, and ISO to the situation. For the macro shots of corals, I use a tripod, which helps a lot to produce a sharper image.

I would love the chance to shoot with some Zeiss lenses... a bit outside my price range at the present time though! Never tried one, but only heard amazing things. Maybe one day.

Here are a couple more shots.

Good job overall. Take a bow.

If you're looking for some constructive criticism on how to further tighten up your shots, here's what I'm seeing. I'm noticing a variety of lighting (led, t5 and mh too?) White balance off in some. Blue channel completely blown in some. Some overexposures. Some could be sharper.

I recommend turning off your pumps before shooting. Not only will it cut down on marine snow (which you should eliminate entirely in post if nothing else), but after a few minutes, polyps generally extend and can be even more picturesque.

Beautiful corals and photographs. A number of those are excellent. Those images as a whole I feel are stronger than the ones you posted earlier on this thread. The white balance looks good. More uniform exposure. More uniform sharpness and clarity. Having exceptional subject matter helps too.

Well done.

Thanks for the C&C. As you noted, the shots are under a variety of lighting. The LEDs obviously make some of the blues and purples difficult. I usually do have my pumps off when shooting, always with the corals at least. I'd like to get even more polyp extension (not just with photos, but in general), but that is a pipe dream in most cases. The montis above I irritated with cleaning the glass, and didn't wait until they were fully extended, didn't have the time in that instance. In terms of post, I typically use LR3 and lately don't have the time to eliminate all snow etc. from the pics as lately have been too busy. I have CS5 but I don't think I've ever used it to edit an aquarium pic, LR3 is just as good. Either way, the feedback is appreciated.

These are awesome pictures. Makes me want to pull the camera out and take some myself. You have really made me realize I needs lots more practice and photography skills. Great job!
