Some questions regarding Nano DOC 9002

Hey Roger, I just took the top plate off my skimmer, and I only have a straight nib - nothing that looks like an L. The air hose goes straight into that. Is this what we are talking about here, or am I looking at the wrong thing.

Sending you a PM for the black screw....

Thanks!
Aaron

No, the other end where the airline meets the pump, that is the part that has to be firmly pressed in.

Unfortunately I couldn't get Mr Tunze on the phone today. I did speak with a secretary and she acknowledged that the screw doesn't go in far enough and they are having the same problems in Europe and they are working to solve it so we should get a replacement piece soon.

Got ya. Thanks. I took the bottom plate off and made sure it was in all the way. Hopefully the longer screws will get me up and running like normal....

Here is a photo of the skimmer installed. Note this aquarium was just set up yesterday and the skimmer has been running for abou 18hrs in water that is 50% new so the lack of skimmate is not surprising. The 9010 running in the sump has yet to do anything either. Before the move it had run about the same period of time in my 75 and I was just getting it tuned in.

No bracing, I got it from Tunze but it isn't feasible to do again as it cost $1200, just in shipping.

No, but I can get one. I kind of got stuck with this because so one begged and pleaded and then when we got the shipping quote backed out, as I said it was $1200 for shipping and another $400 in duties and delivery to my door and was a huge ordeal.

Hi ,
After using the black screw as substitute for the blue screw, viola, comes alive the typical venturi suction sound and now my skimmer is beginning to skim. The first day it actually skimmed out a cup of bluish solution and I tune the air suction further down, now it produces dry foam. I will try to take pictures of it soon.

Good to hear! I was very upset about this and want to assure you we will get you a permanent solution. I don't know how this happened. Yes, these things are hand made but they are generally made with jigs and such mistakes should be really impossible. Especially seing as the part should have been a straight change over from the 3110/2, just in black.

not to bring this thread back from the dead but my skimmer has the same problem this user was describing i first went with the instructions and just brought the foam up to the bottom of the skimmer cup and let it do its break in period, after a few days it was still in the same spot not bringing any dry foam up the riser... i tried to fiddle with the blue screw little increments at a time but still nothing, I now just want to get it resolved as i am getting a little aggravated, i know it is not my tank water bc i was running a huge skimmer in my tank b4 i downgraded and was skimming like crazy!! but now i am not getting anything :( please help me roger, thank you.

Hi Ritviko, indeed my happiness was short lived. Less than 1/2hr after posting the pic of foam formation in the neck, skimmer went crazy and filled up the whole cup with water:mad2:
I have checked the venturi injection nozzle air input and verified it is securely inserted in place. I guess you are right about the blue screw not fully covering the air hole, have tried to replace it with the other black screw you mentioned (yes slightly longer than the blue one and w same diameter) . It did sure work better as the water level in the chamber can be fine tuned using the black screw and not blue screw.

Where to you set the level in the neck to usually btw?

Let's see what happens tomorrow when I do the update:p

Now I know why I have a problem!! Where does one get one of these black screws?

It is just the black screws that came with your holder bracket but this problem was solved well over a year ago so this should not be necessary. Usually you solve this issue by raising the skimmer about 1/4 to 1/2".
