Some (Rare) Atlantic Gobies

Here's a few pictures of two Atlantic Gobies that I collected a few months back in a bed of Halodule beaudettei. I'm using the term "Rare" loosely. It applies to these gobies within the aquarium trade, but not so much in the wild.

Awesome little fish!!!

I have collected these as well, and they tend to do quite well in captivity.

I assume these are from the gulf?

Cool, Todd! They look like little grumpy old men :)
Haha. They're definitely grumpy. They don't take crap from no one! The tiny 1" C. bolesoma was tail slapping a 3.5" Lyretail Male who ventured into his territory. :hmm4:

Thanks. Yes, they were collected in the Gulf, actually Big Lagoon in Pensacola.

Neat! I particularly like the Ctenogobius boleosoma - Camo fish!
Yea, the Darter Goby is quite hard to see sometimes, it can lighten or darken depending on mood/stress.

Like an old man trying to return soup at a deli! (a George Costanza line from the episode where he was a marine biologist!)

Hey Todd, if they're so rare why didn't you leave them in the ocean? ;)

It's cool catching your own fish... :)

Same reason "Rare" Wrought Iron BF's aren't left in the ocean. Out of the 20+ gobies I caught these were the two I decided to keep. Super "Rare".

Very cool.

First tank I ever setup was a 29 gallon with some "local" caught stocking. Including a 3-4" Mangrove Snapper, 3 Pipefish, 1 needle fish, and a handful of Codium algae. All of which were collected on a Beach off Rickenbacker Causeway in Miami. Pretty sure that little pulloff is a Condo complex by now.
