Sonicboom's 180 build in Tampa

Thanks, so far not one complaint, glass is clean for 6 days and all i need is GAC in my reactor. oh wait, my only complaint is the wretched brown/black sludge being pulled out by the skimmer now...

Started vinegar dosing. Took a couple weeks but seeing similar results.

Good to hear that vodka dosing is working so well. Thought about it but can't seem to out good vodka in my tank when I can think of better ways to get rid of it. LOL.

Haha, yea when walked in I asked where the vodka was and the clerk looked at me like I was crazy because I was standing right next to it...lol

Man if I had saw that you would probably disown me. As you already know I am dosing vinegar as it is a little less expensive but after about 3 months I have been cleaning the insides of my tank maybe every 2 weeks counting being lazy. I dont know if you know this but once you get to zero you save more money because you have to cut your dosing in half and it becomes your maintenance dose.

Lol didn't know that but wife will be happy, I won't yell at her for using the fishes vodka to make a bloody mary..lol

So after fighting with Durso returns to silence them and tweaking and adjusting full siphons I finally re did the plumbing to include an emergency drain and a single return. Here's why I am so happy most of my plumbing is fitted with pipe thread tape.

Removed the T from the second return to make the emergency drain and fitted a coupler to the already existing spray bar.

Removed T coming in from left return and ran straight to sump.

Removed and capped pipe from left return to skimmer area since it was no longer needed.

Tested about 7 times between yesterday and today with power outages. Every time the emergency drain handled enough flow to barely let the water level drop in the sump and after about 45 seconds the main drains primed themselves and took over. I am very pleased that by just replacing two T's I went from unsafe and noisy Durso/siphon to full siphon with emergency.

Well sleepless yes, because tank sounds like it's not running...not so much. Now when I turn the power heads down at night I get a slurp from the siphon because they aren't pushing water towards the overflows as hard, so I close one valve about 1/4 inch and all is good. Then the float valve drips and water starts to fill it... it's the never ending balancing act. Oh well, for now I will just adjust the float until I devise something else...lol

So I decided to change the lenses on my sunglasses today to the blue blocker type lenses and when I came in the house this is what I saw with the sunglasses on.

And with them off.

Glad you are liking the full siphon. Mine has a inch full siphon with a dry emergency. I gave up some flow over other systems, but silence is golden and peace of mind with a dry emergency is priceless. Now if it only works when I test it...

Your tank look great, glad the vodka is working.

Thanks!, have some free time on my hands so grabbed the skimmer and running some vinegar through it. Here it is clean but it was covered in yellow slime from the vodka dosing I guess.

The full siphon is an art, mine had times when it would refuse to sit at a specific levels, but eventually it would even out. I ran a modified beananimal style siphone.and the silence was priceless in my living room.

You can say that again, I love the silence but the constant tweaking when I lower my power heads at night is a pain. I marked my gate valves so at least now I can quickly set it.
