Sunny, one more thing. Do you have your fiji purple bulb 3 bulbs from the back or 3 bulbs from the front? When you say to replace my first aquasun with the fiji purple I assume you are talking second bulb from the front. Would it look more balanced if I put the bulb more towards the center like yours? Please if you would show me your bulb selction and placement noting front and back.

Here is my current combo and placement:

ATI Blue Plus
ATI Aqua Blue Special
KZ Fiji Purple
ATI Blue Plus
ATI Blue Plus
ATI Aqua Blue Special
AquaScience Blue 22

What you have listed above is how I have my bulbs placed. Try out this placement and see how you like it. You may have to move around a blue or white bulb depending on coral placement.

Ok so your bulbs listed top to bottom are the order front to back? meaning your fiji purple is the 3rd bulb from the front? I apolagize I just want to make sure that is right. Thank you very much again.

what do you mean move the blue and white bulbs according to coral placement? Does that mean to keep more of the blue bulbs over the corals? Thanks!

Sunny did you ever put the fiji purple in the middle, I just was not sure if it would look more balanced, or do you think it looks better one bulb position forward as you have it? I really apolagize for all the questions I just have always had a hard trying to decide placement. Thank you very much again!

yes, front to back.

Place the blue bulb over blue corals, white over red/yellow/green/purple/pink.

i love this thread and love this tank and it help me pick my t5 combo thanks

Thanks for stopping by. ;)

No problem, ask as many questions as you like, I don't mind. :) I moved the Fiji bulb around but it looked best towards the front. It looks best in the front three slots because this way it can highlight the front of the corals and give them a nice pop. If the bulb is placed towards the back you lose the great effect of the bulb.

Which brand of mg do you dose? Your tank looks amazing!

Thanks! I dose MG from www.Bulkreefsupply.com along with their Two part dosing kit.

Sunny do you use your Vortechs in constant speed mode or reef crest or other modes?

Hello,

The MP40w on the left side of the tank is on Reef Crest 100%, the MP20 on the right side is set at Lagoon Mode 100%. This combo has produced a great amount of flow, while helping to keep waste in suspension.

Sunny other than the fiji purple bulb I know what brand specifically makes that one you like. What bulb brand do you prefer for the blue pluses and aqaublues ATI, D&D gieseman, or other brand?

Actually I just saw that you use the ATI but wanted to make sure before I place an order that there isn"t another brand you may like the best. Thank you very much.

Hello,

I prefer ATI bulbs. Based on my experiences and the test numbers out there the ATI bulbs have proven to be some of the best.

Sonny,
Do you have any bubble algae pop up? Also, do you know if vodka dosing can eventually starve it out? My emeralds keep the rocks clean but it grows well on the back wall. I hate pulling it off because it gets all caught up in my korallias and makes more work....
Thanks

Hello, I do not have issues with Bubble algae. I made sure to cook my rock for a month before placing it into the new tank.

If you continue dosing the vodka you will eventually starve out the bubble algae. To accelerate its demise I would remove as much as you can manually, and take care not to pop any in the tank.

Just love your tank. Keep coming back to look at the pics.

Question for you...would I be able to keep sps anywhere in a 75 gallon tank with a constellation fixture?

Thanks and Happy New Year!

Your tank still looks great and you doing a great job helping fellows reefer.

Thanks! :D

Thanks! :)

With the Constellation you may actually have to run a shorter photoperiod so that the corals do not bleach under the intensity of the lighting. The fixture puts out a good amount of light. So yes, you should have no problems placing SPS anywhere, just be careful not to fry the corals.

Happy new year! I wish you all health, happiness, success, and colorful SPS in 2010! :celeb1: :celeb3::celeb1:
