You going to the Midwest Marine Conference in May?

Yeah, ill be there all three days! :D Hopefully we can get some of our RC buddies across the nation to come up and check it out. It would be cool to meet some reefers.

 no issues here. I did some major fragging a couple months ago so I wanted to wait a bit to get some pictures up. Plus, I have been very busy with work and school. When I do get some free time Im usually cleaning the tank or on the Xbox. Im really trying to get some pics up ASAP.

Well done Sonny, I am more of a fishworld guy myself. I bought 1000 masked anglefish last week

I've started dosing lugols the last couple days and have had a noticable cyno outbreak. I was dosing one drop a day and am going to drop back to one drop every 3 days to see if it helps. If I've read correctly starting MB7 should help with this? On the plus side I saw an immediate improvement with my mushrooms opening more fully. I had suspected an iodine depleation was causing this. It looks like that was the case.

Iodine can and will kill off bacteria so be careful when using it. The MB7 should conteract the cyano. If you have cyno right now in the tank then doent dose vodka.

Hi Sunny,
Thanks offering to check. Some precisions:
- Parameters: Temp:79, CA:400, ALK: 5meg/l, Ph:8-8,1, PO4:<0,05mg/l, SG:1,026, NA: 5-10. Every param stable in time.
- Tank: 36X12X18, 33g
- Lighting: Coralife fixture, this one
- Bulb: 150W 14K double ended Coralife, replaced two months ago(had 12k Giesemenn before). This is when I got the coral reaction but when it is also when the fan became unaligned too (which I realigned 3 weeks ago).
- Also 2x65w PC actinic 420nm and no change to water flow with koralia 2 (600gph) and aquaclear 50 (270gph).
- Seeing reaction I decreased MH time from 8h/day to 2,3,4..to now 7h/day. Trying to reacclimate but I suspect it will take time.
- Feeding very sparse with 2 fishs(osclaris+6 lines wrasse) every other day.

Some pics:
Never seen my pinnaple fading white like this in 6 years. Monti was bright green for the 3 months before bulb change and was fast growing. Now he is brown and slowed much its growth.

Euphelia much less expanded than usual since same time.

BTW I'm working on a Miracle tank 36X20X20 project with 33g sump(+refugium ATS) that may help on NA. Maybe replaceing one of those 2 actinic may add a new spectrum opportunity. I'm thinking on returning with Giesemenn too.
So, do you see this as a new bulb reaction, bad cooling from the fan, etc ?
Thanks for your comments.

With parameters as you have you shouldnt be having the issues you are having. The corals looked bleached and unhealthy. Do you run carbon? You may have a toxic buildup in the tank. Also, are you running a glass shield over the DE bulb? Any cracks in the bulb casing? I do see some algae so you may want to recheck the PO4 and NO3 levels. The algae could be absorbing the nutrients before they can have a chance to be tested.

Do you have pics of this when you first got it. My piece has been encrusting for about 4 months. would be awesome if it turned out like that

Hi Sunny, I spoke with you a while back about bulb combo. I have the exact same fixture as you on a 75 gal. I did the exact same placement as you. When changed my bulbs I did not change my lighting cycle time or coral placement (I know sometimes people do this because of the new brighter lights and possibly bleaching corals. I did not notice any bleaching really, but my monti digitadas and other montis are really pale. On the other hand my blue tort looks better. All water perameters are about the same as were before except the fact that I am finally getting my hair algae under control. Please let me know what you think.

Sorry meant to say it has been about 2 months with new bulbs. My 3 blue pluses are on for about 10 hrs, blue plus and fiji purple for about 7 hrs., and 2 aquablues for about 5 hrs. This is of course 10 hrs. total w/ all lights being on for the 5 hrs. The fixture is slightly over 2" higher than the rim of the tank.

It's going to be a great conference! Looking forward to see you there.

Now I would who to steal some fish from .

I am finding it very hard to balance the blue in my pictures since changing out my bulbs. The tank is not nearly as blue as in the pics below. Im gonna play around with my camera some more to see if I can get the correct white balance.
