Thanks Mario, I'll give them a call. After reading Sonny's post on dosing bacteria/vodka along with the reefkeeping article, I feel much more comfortable trying it myself.

What games are you currently playing? I'll be add you tonight, my GT is Instant Death XX

I mostly play COD:MW and COD:WW

I play those very same games. Hopefully you can keep up with my crew. ;)

Hi Sonny,
You probally answerd this somewhere but does your light fixture have fans? Do you think it would be enough light for a 120g 48x 24x24?
Thank you,
Frank

Yes, the fixture comes with 3 built in fans and is sufficient for a 120gl.

Can you tell me where you bought it, the one i found says dual fans? Do you have a link?
Thanks

Does Bio-fuel and Neo Zoe do the same thing as Vodka?
Is it safe to dose the Microbacter 7 as a stand alone product or does it add too much bacteria with out dosing vodka?

Well, the Biofuel is similar to Vodka but will cost you more. If you are using the Biofuel and the Neo Zeo rocks you will need to dose Microbacter7 in order to achieve the best results possible. You can dose Microbacter7 alone but for the best effect you will need a carbon source such as Biofuel or Vodka.

Thanks Sonny. Great thread and impressive tank. Im not dosing anything as of yet. Im still in the information process of it before I pull the trigger. Im wanting to increase coral color and skimmer production by utilizing the vodka method. Will all brands of vodka have the same effect even though they all go through a different filtering process? Or am I thinking into it to deep?
Im running a pretty plain BB system with no problems of anykind yet. I do the same things as you maintence wise with the detrius removal whenever there is enough to syphon out. I have a spray bar behind my rockwork that pushes everything to the front of the tank. I have always run pumps in my sump too. I think this has helped my system stay somewhat problem free but Im still lacking the impressive coral colors you have achieved.

The brand doesn't matter, just make sure it is plain vodka with no flavors added. You will have to adjust you dosing based on strength(40 proof, etc.)

Hi Sunny... In using MB7, maybe you could help shed some light on the dosage, the instructions are a little confusing. Bottle reads:

Stable, Low-nutrient Systems: To maintain a low concentration of available nutrients in all marine and freshwater aquaria, 5 ml (1 capful) of MicroBacter7 per 50 US-gallons (189.3 L) [˜2 drops per gallon (3.8 L)] of aquarium water no more than once each week; alternately, add 1 drop per 50 US-gallons daily (or 1 drop per 25 US-gallons every other day). Turn protein skimming and UV-sterilization off for a period of 4 hours following addition to aquaria. Dosage may be adjusted according to perceived benefit to aquarium, however it is recommended that the dosage not exceed 1 drop per 10 US-gallons per day. With time, hobbyists may determine that decreasing the dosage and/or dosing frequency by up to 50% sufficiently maintains a low-nutrient environment. During changes in biological filtration or when increasing the aquarium bioload, dose 1 drop per 25 US-gallons daily for one week, then resume “low-nutrient” dosage.

So for (rounded off for simplicity) a 150 gallon system, should I add:

A) 15ml (3 cap fulls) once a week? ( I would guess this would be in excess of 200 drops)

B) 75 drops (2 drops per gallon) once a week?

and then the kicker on the label above: dosage is not to exceed 1 drop per 10 gallons per day? = 15 drops.

What am I reading wrong?

I have nil nutrients, and the tank is stable (using vodka) steady 1.8mL per day, but want to begin using MB7 (I have it, but don't know what levels to start)

Any help would be appreciated.

The instructions had me confused at first also. If your reef is clean and doing well then I would suggest that you add 4-6 drops a day of the MB7. I prefer daily addition because it will not "shock" the system as a larger dosage may.

Thank you... that is sound advice. I am glad to hear I wasn't the only one who was a little confused.

Well sunny, it looks as if i'm gonna get a rimless with your specs 48 x 24 x 20h, 3 sided starfire. gonna put it on a oceanic tech stand with the 3 glass openings (got a 90 oceanic with this stand and absolutely love the stand, cause easy access to all equipment!), the main difference may be the 8-54 watt ati's instead of the constellation. what a b'day gift to myself! not settled on the light yet though so looking into it!:D :D

Nice!

If I can be of ANY assistance please let me know. Concerning the lighting, the Ati will work great on the new setup.
The Oceanic stands are very nice. I have a 30gl fresh water system with an Oceanic tank and stand.

When and from who do you plan on getting the tank from?

well i'm considering glass cages and a local builder. I'd have to see some finished products from the local builder first. i also started a thread about experiences with glass cages and it doesn't soud too good! any suggestions? i would like the edges to be beveled and buffed. or at least buffed. black silicone too. if i can't find a satisfactory builder i may go with an oceanic 120 but really want a 20" high aquarium.

thanks for the offer on any help that i may need. i may have to take you up on that!
