Yea its what I made room for. thats less than 2 days running.

Oh wow, I didn't even know it was out yet!

Awesome man! You have a sweet gig testing out all these skimmers. :D

My two drains produce a fair amount of bubbles (positioned in a way where they aren't sucked in the return :) ). I haven't ran the skimmer in days when dosing and hadn't had problems. I read that, and having read that I checked and noticed the bubbles in the drains. Probably helped my tank that way.

So you don't even turn the skimmer off even when dosing MB7? The bottle does in fact indicate to turn the protein skimmer off for a minimum of 4 hours after dosing. You told me you split the dosing up throughout the day so it isn't all at once. Started the 10ml early and 10ml again later so then I never even had the skimmer on. I'll turn it on now. Let me know if I can leave it on 24/7 (dosing MB7 or not). That is if I can get my skimmer working. Euro-Reef is terrible. It works great when it's on and then when shut off have fun trying to turn it back on. Takes a few on/off/on/off/on/offs to get it working. :D

lol its not as sweet as one might think. I did pay for the skimmer. But People seem to take itas a challenge sometimes to prove me wrong.

I believe I got the second one of like 15 of the first 15. these white ones were special order.

I dont want to take away from your thread I wll be dosing the MB7 only to see if it can help can clean up the tank. I am actualy going to do 2 drops in the morning and 2 in the evening.

we will see how it does.

I am a week into dosing MB7. I dose the same amount you do per day. I thought it could've just been me thinking it looked better, but yes, it seems like the water is crystal clear.

I need to dose 20ml/day for another week yet and then starting the vodka addition.

Good stuff. Unlike you though I'm not running my skimmer because I do 10ml in the morning and then 10ml at night. Says not to run the skimmer after dosing for 4 hours. Are you just dosing 20ml all at one time and then running the skimmer later?

I just realized though that I should've bought the liter bottle. Dosing 20ml per day is downing the bottle a bit. Come Tuesday I have to go another week. I'll be doing another mail order.

I have been turning my skimmer off for maybe an hour or so. I was a little gun shy of leaving it off for all 4 hours after Mojo's story. I guess now I wont turn it off at all. I have been dosing an hour after my lights come on. I wont be able to today and tomorrow due to work. I mix the 20ml with 80ml of tank water and just dump it into the powerhead.
I had been dosing AA's about 45 mintues after my main lights go out. I have stopped this though while seeding the MB7.
I need to get another bottle as well. My local prices are cheaper than online prices by about $10 before shipping. For once, something is cheaper local. Seems like out tanks are just about exactly the same. Mines a 135 with a 40L sump.

I leave my skimmer on when dosing MB7. The only time my skimmer is off is when I am dossing AA's.

I still got to give a rant and say

MAN! YOUR TANK LEAVES ME BREATHLESS!

Usually that's for my girlfriend (tank) but oh wells. It's the darn! truth :D hahaha

Any shots of before the corals went in with only liverocks only? (:

Happy Reefing
Marc :D

Sunny have you had any trouble with cyano when vodka dosing ? If so what do you do about it ? Is it the vodka feeding the cyano? ive been fighting it since i started dosing.

Check you PO4 levels...I bet they are through the roof. On my old setup I had cyano twice....both times my PO4 was through the roof. Now on my new setup....PO4 is undetectable with Elos kit and i have no algae issues or cyano. I've never even had a diatom outbreak.

my friend has a good po4 meter and about a 2 weeks ago it was at .27 down from .57 two weeks before that. If its my po4 the only thing i can do is keep increasing my vodka, right? Im accually dosing VSV. Im at 4.5ml per day in my pretty heavily stocked 90g.
oh yeah nirates are at 20. How many ml do you think i will have to work up to for my nitrates and po4 to be undetectable?

If yor nitrates are that high...the only thing I can reccomend is a lot of water changes. As for the PO4...just get some GFO and run it in a reactor and change it out monthly. Adding vodka isn't going to help much with 20ppm nitrates. I would do some massive water changes, cut back on feeding, and then adjust the vodka and bacteria dosing accordingly.

Thanks! :D
I have moved some stuff around on the left side recently due to a minor rock slide. I was angry about it at the time but it was a blessing is disguise as it gave me more room to add more corals. :D

Sonny you going to need a bigger tank.

Yeah, thats what I have been thinking. ;) But I still have 1+ years before the corals get out of hand.

A 72x36x20 rimless would be sweet!

The only problem is getting it into the basement. The last tank I had was 60x36x24 and it was a nightmare getting it in the house. The thing weighed a ton! I am a big strong guy and had 4 other guys as well and we just had the hardest time getting it in.

I am going to look around locally and see if I can find a company that can move it into the house before planning out a new tank.

Could always have the tank built in place.

Dude, when I tell you my tank JUST made it in through my Bilco doors into the basement... I was so proud of myself when it came to my measurements because getting it in were some teeth cutting moments. Originally, I was complaining about the 300 dollars that it cost to have it delivered. However, after I saw the tank, I was so happy that I didn't have to break my back doing it. Also, the liability was on them in case of any mishaps. It's definitely worth it..

Will you be building your next stand as well?

Sunny - I notice you are using a rather small return pump on this system. You don't like a lot of turn over in the sump?

Also, what type of Vodka do you dose?

Thanks and sorry for the seemingly dumb questions. Although I have a lot of experience in the hobby, I've been out of touch from society for the past 3 years or so and there are so many new trends I am trying to catch up on.

Yeah, sometimes its easier just to pay someone else to handle the stress and liability. :)

The next stand will probably be a DIY or one of those black metal powder coated ones.

Hello. :D

The return pump is great for my system and I will be using the same pump on my larger future system. Here in the US running a large return pump is the thing, while in Europe it is all about efficiency. When designing this system I tried to copy as much technology and practices as I could from European systems.

I ran a large return pump on my old system and I had to run filter socks in order to stop micro bubbles from getting into the tank.

With less turnover in my sump my system no longer has micro bubbles, less noise, less heat, better skimmer, and no salt creep. :D

Correct, I know I used to do the same thing. Thanks for the reply, something to think about as I start putting together my new system.

BTW, what kind of Vodka do you dose in your system?

Cheap 40proof Mohawk Vodka.
