Oh, ok. Then I have to assume my anemone just moved somewhere but I have no clue where. Hopefully they can survive off the light.

not sure what happened. 3 days no skimmer. I have been doing small water changes everyday and tonight sat night. I plan on doing a larger water change and getting things regrouped. Parameters look good. do have an algae break out now which I havent had in a long time. But I will regroup and try again.
Skimmer is already pulling out some stinky stuff. live and learn.
Thanks for the help fellas

Prodibio have something new call CalciReef+.

That's cool, but what does Ca have to do with this?:)

It wasn't the potassium or bad bacteria. The tank was run without a skimmer and that caused the issue. The O2 levels dropped and the fish died as a result.

As we have learned from Mojo's tragedy please do not do any carbon/bacteria dosing if you do not have a skimmer running or an adequate one.

That's awesome. How soon did you notice the GHA disappearing (days/weeks)?
I think it was about a week or two and the algae started turning white and stopped growing. By a month or so and the cleanup crew cleaned up what was left. I think there may have been a couple little spots that hung on a little longer.

Sunny can you do a run down of what you dose and when, in relation to your lights? I know it's all in the thread, it's just not all in one complete, single post.

I started dosimg MB7 tonight. 20ml mixed with 80ml of tank water before I dumped it in the tank. Total volume is best guess 150 gallons.

Sure thing :)

4PM
MB7 10 drops
Vodka 2ml
Seachem Strontium powder 1 teaspoon. (just started using this a few days ago)

5PM
Feed fish
100ml Ca soultion

11:30PM lights out
100ML ALK

AA's are added on a varied basis. If the corals look light I will dose 6 drops. Lugols is added every Monday, 5 drops in the afternoon.

I am planning on making my yearly trip to Niagara this year and was looking at old photos.

Here is a good one of me crushing this thing:

yea its my fault rally, I had skimmers sitting here in the box. Should of grabbed on and put it in. Was waiting on another one.
all good. I am about half the rock out today to make sure I get anything dead out of the tank. I ll do a larger water change and just let it run for a couple days. I ll probably start dosing MB7 again next week.
Mojo~

Sunny,
Why have you decided to dose Strontium?

mike

Just wanted to try something new I guess. I know a few local guys that use it and they have great looking tanks and growth. I dont do an many water changes as everyone else so my system may be lacking a few minerals.

ic..:) your tank looks great so, why change it?:)))

Because I want the corals to grow super fast so I can get that larger rimless I have been planning. :D

Sonny did you get my pm from the other day?

I turn mine off as I dont want my skimmer sucking it right up. When Dosing MB7 and AA's try and dose the AA's at least an hour before the bacteria. This way the corals will absorb the AA's and not the bacteria.

I was not aware that corals would absorb bacteria instead of AA's... I dose all at the same time, more for time than anything else... I currently dose everything in the evening about an hour after the lights go out so that all my corals have good PE...

I guess I'm hoping you will elaborate as to why you think the coral would absorb the bacteria instead of the AA's...

Thanks!!! :D

I actually meant to say so that the bacteria doesn't eat the AA's before the corals get them. :D

You bring up a good point about SPS eating bacteria. I will have to look into it. From my experience my corals have had greater PE and feeding tentacles when dosing MB7 so there may be eating something.
