SPS crabs

Hello,
so I have ALOT of crabs in my tank and they are getting HUGE like the colonies they live in! I noticed they kinda are reproducing and are in ALL my SPS colonies now.

all are shiny looking crabs with no hair. havent seen them eat polyp of SPS.

but in general, are there guys good or bad ? or even ?

would they die if taken away from the acro ? they would make a good food for my triggers and or perfect janitors for my Fuge.

hi !!

well if they are acropora crabs,i asked that question a while back and from waht i was told and what i've researched they are good to have and i wish i could get some for all my sps corals.
they clean them and protect them from predators ,in exchange the crab gets protection being inside the coral where fish and the likes can't get to him..

i always ask the lfs store if they have some extras to introduce in my other corals..

hope this helps

Well if they haven't eaten any of your sps, why would they be bad? :)

I had a couple in my sps and they are harmless.

they're reproducing in your tank?

seems like it !!! every single colony now has a crab in it.

introduced a new coral last week with a crab in it, today I noticed that crab is gone and another white one has replaced it lol

either reproducing, or coming out of hidding haha

id say good, but i know little. Just looks like the pic above just with a really light black band. As soon as my frags grow out im gonna hit up DD and grab a couple

Not to highjack or anything, but I plan on getting some of these for when my acros get larger. My question is: will they fend off fish that nip, like pesky dwarf angels, etc?

Thanks. And that's awesome if they are reproducing in your tank!

Are you purchasing multicultured or wild colonies? Just as an observation, it's good to get free acro crabs but if you're not dipping/treating the them before you put new colonies into your system, a lot of headaches could result from pests.
