What size did you order?

UPDATE:

I received my nano wave box and its pretty cool! It took a while (a frustrating while) to tune it in but its working really good. I have a good sized wave going along with the two nano streams.

The tank has been cycling and so far no signs of anything..i still wonder what that goo was..

I am now waiting for my ATI Power Module..:D..

When are you selling it and how much do you want for it? PM me and we'll see what we can work out. I call first dibs! :D And sorry for the off topic post Clownreefer!

KZ Old Generation 10k Coral light

diego, are you sure you want those clowns back? they sure would love it in my 240 ;)

they have turned into little pigs - beg for food constantly :)

Ace,

Im sure they are loving vacation time at uncle Ace's...LOL..

Tank update:

Well..the goo is back, and i am 100% sure they are dinoflagellates...

Here is what i have observed:

-They grow on high flow areas.I have my two tunzes shooting straight to the rock work..and thats where they grow.

-There are no lights on over the tank, so they are not photosynthetic.

I just checked my PH and it was on the low side. I am dosing B-Ionic (calcium part) to raise my PH. According to Randy Holmes-Farley this is a proven method to "kill" them.

A clam i bought a while back had these stringy goo things around it, but i didnt give it much attention. BIG mistake.

We'll see what happens. I want to shoot the PH REALLY high.. There are no fish/coral in the tank.

I dosed 30ml of B-Ionic (according to the bottle it is 1 ml per 4 gallons)..My tank is roughly 100 gal.

Ill test again in the morning before i dose again (30 ml.)

Any opinions/suggestions/words of encouragement? :)

Thanks!

I'd suggest two Phosban Reactors instead. Carbon is good for a few days imho, while GFO is good for a month or even several months. With that configuration, I don't really see the value.

Two reactors will cost about the same ($30 each), plus a powerhead. You can use one with a Tee fitting to feed each reactor at its own rate. The Phosban Reactors come with ball valves.

SIVERT,

Thanks! There is no photoperiod.. I just need to run activated carbon along with GFO. It weird, after all i did..scrubbing the rock, letting it sit in freshwater..

Seems like it did nothing..

I'd have to go read up on this topic again, but it seems like I recall with dinos, you don't change water nor run carbon. Just spike the pH & alk to cook that stuff out of the system, and skim heavily. If I'm wrong, feel free to correct me.

EDIT: Just looked at that link to RHF article, and see why carbon was recommended. Since your tank has no livestock in it, I don't think it would be necessary since you aren't trying to keep toxins out of the gills of snails, etc.

Well ive dosed over 90ml of B-Ionic calcium part from yesterday to today and my PH is LOW...7.8...***!

Im ****ed!!.. This crap wont go away!!

Calcium will not raise pH nor alkalinity. You'd have to use the other part, Part 1. Calcium is Part 2.

And you won't see it go away quickly, this is a process.

Duh!..my bad..thanks Marc.. :)

Well, i managed to get the PH at 8.34 right now. Ill keep dosing and will try to get it to 8.5-8.6... Ill run it like that for a few weeks..Hopefully this crap will go away..

I wonder why it was so low in the first place..
