SPS...your opinions

Im looking into getting more SPS corals (prefer acro), and was told that if I was having the great success with my stylophora and pocillopora and monti cap I could probably get an acro. I refuse to get anything more green because I have too many green corals.

now, from what I can see, most people say green slimer, a. valida, a. millepora, tricolor acro, a. tenuis, and ORA frags. My question is, with all the ORA names...i can't even keep track, would you suggest I get an ORA over anything else? What might my success rate be? and are acropora sp. not suggested to begin with?
what about miami orchid, blue tortusa, bonsai...? What is one of the hardiest ORA corals?

p.s.~I post in other threads to get most input so you may see this somewhere else. I know people often answer these questions, but I really can't find the best answers

bonsai my vote ! If your tank atleast a year old and u can keep the ones listed ! Go for it ! bonsai is on my list to get ! my tank is mainly sps !

my spelling is going to be way off here.

Cranberry tip sermintosa if you can find it
ORA german blue polyp acro if you can find it
tri color validia
bonsi for sure, great coral
ORA red planet
blue and green millepora

I'll stop there. More good ones out there but that list in a tank would be sweet!

Red planet!! Then Ora plum crazy acro, Cali blue tort, my stags like blue tip stag acro and teal stag are growing like weeds. Nectar of the gods digi is my favorite :)

You can't really go by what you can keep right now and what you can't because i have a 90 gallon sps dominate tank with tons of acro's in it including very fragile sps like the ora pearlberry and stuff like that and i can't keep stylo's for some reason they always start to STN on me about 1 to 2 months in my tank and my buddy has a beautiful dominate sps tank and he can't keep a green slimmer to save his life and that supposed to be one of the easier sps to keep. So basically you just have to try it and see if it does good in your tank because you will find tons of people that you will read and hear that they can't keep this and they can't keep that while tons of other people can. Give whatever sps a shot and see what happens Good Luck! They are a lot of fun once they start growing into big colonies.

I tend to agree, I can grow most acros and millis just fine, but encrusting monties just sneer at me and then waste away slowly out of spite.

I also think you may want to try and see what works. I for the most part can keep SPS, but I due have issues with the more delicate species.

I had trouble with the ORA Hyacinth-very pretty but fragile and not very hardy (plus I got it in poor shape), it was one of the few I lost. The ORA German Blue Polyp is very difficult to find and difficult to grow quickly, mine loses color frequently and is SLOW growing, I'd avoid it to start with.

So, in other threads and this...the responses I got for best/ easier ORA frag was:
red planet, bonsai, millepora, plum crazy, cali blue tort, blue tip stag & teal stag, pearlberry, borealis, and miami orchid

difficult ones to keep: hyacinth and german blue polyp

so.....what's your bet? Do I just need to try one out and see how it goes? There are too many!

id say the ORA Pearlberry....i frag my big colony all the time and everyone has yet to die. I think its probly the ezr one. On the other hand PurpleMonster in all its beauty is very, very, very, did i say VERY hard to keep. Once its happy and encrusted it will do fine but till then its a 50/50 crap shoot.
