Looks great! I've missed quite a few pages, but getting caught up now;)

Plus you had 777 posts and my OCD wouldn't let that slide:D
Thanks Hop :)

Haha... I think the reefing mental state calls for a mix of ADD & OCD... then you mix in a few beers to level it all out

Yeah it's getting huge. I asked a question earlier if they splt, because it has 2 mouths now, and when it is opened up the whole way it seems to be pinched/fold right in the middle of them.

Thanks. Hopefully I'll have some more additions soon :D

I'm also considering placing at least one, possibly two powerheads on a wavemaker.

Well Capn showed that maxi jet wavemaker and koralia mod. That should do nicely. I personally am looking at that Reefkeeper2. I think it has to do with it being a gadget. How is your RO/DI actually hooked up to your water source? Can I get a pic? I am a little leary about tapping into my copper water supply with a vampire tap.

BTW, why are you still up!!!??!?! :mixed:

Well it's actually CDO, because that way the letters are shown in their correct alphabetical order. :D

My RO/DI unit is not hooked up to my system.

It's located under a sink, and I didn't use a "piercer" to hook it up either, because I rent.

Here's the adapter I used. It splits the cold water source. The open end pointing towards the camera is where the RO/DI unit hooks in, and I just open the blue valve when I want to make water.

Here's the setup:

I usually make water in 40g intervals, and store it in the Rubbermaid Brute container in my garage.

not if we post this late lol

You know you have a reefing problem when you get back from the bars, and you have to check the saltwater you are making to make sure it's ready in the morning for a water change...

I may need to double check the results in the AM to make sure I read the tests accurately though

Haha... no kidding. I have one part out of about 3 or 4 that I would like to have done for the split.

I plan on working on some of the other parts tomorrow hopefully.

I wake up in the middle of the night when i hear a loud car go by just to make sure it wasnt the tank making a noise.

i am getting so many extra parts that i have upgraded from the tank...i can so how its so tempting to start another.

everything is settling in so nice in the tank, but it would take me one day to upgrade the stand hmmmm
its late just thinking out loud lol

That's a very good idea, off hand I can already think of quite a few lessons I have learned regarding:

PBT
Millepora
Brain Coral... and the list goes on.

Totally hear ya on that. I had to shut the vaccum down and run over to the tank today, because I thought something fell apart. It took me about 30 seconds to realize it had started hailing outside, and the noise was from the hail hitting the window.

Well it looks like everything is in check:
- SG of the change water is at 1.026.
- I added 2 caps of DT's Calcium to boost up the Calcium level.
- Turned off the RO/DI unit

See you all in the AM... quite possible the PM

something I don't understand---if you get zero tds for the filter with the three canisters why do you need the other two?
Are they not just overkill?

Capn, Could you link me to that thread, I did a search but didn't find it.

I had a reefing incident last night that I wanted to share. I had a late night and went to bed at around 1:30am. I have trouble sleeping so when I woke up at 3am it was no surprise. I took this time to make a trip to the the facilities where I have to pass my reef tank. I noticed that my moonlights were off so I started to find out why. I soon realized I had an electrical problem and the whole system had shut down. I went into the basement to start troubleshooting and found I tripped a circuit breaker in the panel, a powerbar and GFI.
Now I had to figure out what caused it all to trip. I went through very thing I could think of and still couldn't figure out what happened. Everything seemed normal. I figured I would reset the breakers slowly and see if that would give me a clue as to what happened. Well that showed me where the trouble was when I heard the sizzle, saw the smoke, and heard a pop. My main pump draws alot of power and is run by an aqua controller that is on the first floor. I use an air conditioner extension cord to power the pump in the basement. I figure that some moisture had worked its way between the pump plug and the end of the extension cord. It didn't get wiped down during routine maintenance because I never unplug them when performing this task since its wrapped in electrical tape. That little bit of moisture shorted out the prongs on the plug and popped all the breakers. When I reset the one breaker It shorted again exposing the problem when it blew a big hole into the female end of the extension cord. I plugged the pump into a regular outlet and reset the controller that also controlls other equipment and everything sprang back to life. Now all I have to do is replace the cord from the first floor. It surprised me to see that the moisture could build up between the tight connection of the two cords that were wrapped with electrical tape to keep it from accidently becoming unplugged and to protect it against accidental splashing. Live and learn, Water can get into the most unlikely places.
