Thank you Nick. I am going to fix the leveling issue tomorrow.... The protein skimmer working great with just 3 pumps. I will keep it that way till i start adding fish and corals.

hey steve - i've reconfigured my new system to be 363g display, 150g fuge, 150 cryptic/dark live rock, 50 sump, so that's 700g+. i have a BK 300 Deluxe External... do you think i should design the sump to take a second skimmer if i need it? what would you recommend? i remember that you weren't happy with the BK 400, so i'm thinking maybe of adding a SM 250. or do you think that would be overkill?

stocking wise, i would like to be able to keep 7-8 anthias in addition to about 15 other fish.

Another SM250 will not be overkill.... The new BK400 suppose to come with 2 pumps... You should get the sump as big as you can so you have more room to work with...

Thanks Steve! I will make sure the sump will fit even a BK400 if needed. (My BK 300 is external.)

Tony, get the sump as big as you can fit under the tank with a large open space. It will benefit you in the future

Steve,

One thing I don't quite get is when you said that you have your skimmer only running off 3 pumps and will turn more on as you as you add fish and coral...why does it matter if you have more pumps running with a higher bioload?

I think he is just not wasting the electricity because there isn't that much to skim yet.

but isn't there a point on that skimmer where more pumps don't really do anything? Even with it running 3 pumps it looks full of tiny bubbles.

when it gets a bio-load, it will need the 4th pump...the oils will keep the bubbles down. Not that I am a fan of all those pumps of course.

please...when one of those skimmers can pull a gal./day at 105W, then I'll be impressed. The only advantage I see is that they can fit under a tank.
