Still having fun...300 gallon in wall reef

Great thread...

Great thread...

Beautiful tank. Great job.

I'm somewhat of a plumbing geek. Any ideas on your plumbing set up - hints on things to do or to avoid?

I'm pleased with the plumbing setup. It all works well and is very quiet.

How about a picture of the completed hammertone reflectors?

nice quality on the reflectors, do you have any pictures of the before and after, old reflector v. new reflector.

Tank pics? Not a lot of difference visually until you get close to the tank. Due to the increased size and reflection of the new reflectors, there are not many dark spaces now.

MFLAMB Your tank is amazing and all your detailed work is extremely inspiring. So much so that I used this thread as a model of my current tank 450 gallon inwall. Just wanted to thank you so much for the detailed thread. Just giving you your props! Thanks again!

Tank looks awesome, I am wanting to do at least 2 different Anthia species do you have any advice on which ones I should look at getting. I was thinking 5-7 of the Bartletts and Lyretails. They will all go in my 280g.

I know you are planning for more anthias can you give a final stocking list on how many of what species you plan to keep?

Thanks
Jason

I currently have Bartletts, Ignitus and Lyretails. I want some Evansi and Disbars and more Lyretails for a total of 20-25 Anthias.

One thing I learned is common after it happened to me is that most Bartletts turn to males, so I'll buy all female Anthias in the future so I don't end up with a lot of agression. Besides the Bartletts, I have 2 male Ignitus.

Mike - what kind of bioload do you think you'll be able to manage in the 300g?

Curious, because 300g is my target size for my next build, also.

Mike, are the reflectors just a change in material to your original ones? If so, is the new materail any cheaper? place to buy from?

I currently have 3 large Tangs, 2 Genicanthus, 3 Wrasses, 3 Chromis, 15 Anthias, Copperband, Royal Gramma, lots of SPS, lots of Zoanthids, and a couple LPS. I'll add maybe 10 more Anthias with no problem. I'm having no problem maintaining 0-1 ppm NO3 and 0.02 PO4, while feading numerous times per day.

The new reflectors are a different material and larger. I went from flat spectral aluminum to the 98% reflective hammertone, and from three 14" square reflectors to one 18" square and two 14"x18" reflectors. The coverage area if you just measure directly under the reflectors went from 588 square inches to 828 square inches. The PAR measurements went up over 40% with the lights at the same distance above the water.
The material is from Sunlight Supply on the east coast of Florida.
