Still having fun...300 gallon in wall reef

You are not the first one to ask me why I didn't use the foam again in the 300. I never had any problems related to the foam, and once a coral frag was stuck in the foam, it would encrust just like on rock. I wanted the blue ocean look, so I was going to paint the back blue until James Fatherree spoke at the Tampa Bay Reef Club meeting about lighting and backgrounds. It was quite eye opening. As a result I chose the blue acrylic sheet background that is now hanging on the back of the tank. Check out James Fatherree's article here:

I may take you up on that offer next time I am in the area. Thanks for the info on the controllers! Did you buy them from the Neptune Systems website, or a LFS?

hey mike been following your threads. I'm looking at the same tank for an in wall set up as well only with 2 corner over flows. I'm also on wait list for I-tech 400! Thats how I found your thread. How much did your tank set you back? just for a comparison. Were you in the Marines? Saw the flag in your game room.

Mike, could you post a pic or two of all the electronics (controllers, ballasts, etc.) to give me an idea as to how to get them all set up. Thanks in advance!

I can't remember what I paid for the tank. I paid a deposit to get all the holes drilled, and I ordered some custom overflows and some other acrylic products at the same time. Next time you talk with John at I-Tech, ask him. I bought the tank from him. The I-Tech 400 works great. You will really like it. My late son was a Marine. I was Air Force.

from what I understand the wait list for the skimmers is getting longer by the second! I'm waiting for construction to finish up on a new house to finish up before I can start tank build so I have some time. Would love to get it though just to mess with it.

A lfs has a 300 gal. marineland with starfire front and 2 corner overflows pre drilled for $1800.00. It wouldn't surprise me if that was a little high. They tend to be on some items

Sounds high to me.

Todd at Studio Aquatics in Lakeland has the same tank for about $1600. He sells tanks at cost on the premise that all the stuff going in and around it will be his profit. $1800 sounds a bit high to me to.

well if they're cost is $1600.00 a$200.00 mark up isn't nearly as bad as what I thuoght. Not to mention they said they wuold deliver it too! It will be going in the basement and I wasn't looking forward to getting it down there so if I can get them to do it, it may not be a bad deal.

Hi Mike....set up is looking good ! Need to ditch the camera phone though and get something that can take close ups to show off all that work you been doing....

Thanks Tom!
Dan, that's my Sony Cybershot, a freebie from Ford. I can't seem to come off of the necessary $$$ to buy a good camera.

I've been lazy in this department, but got any new pics?
No, but Adam82 has a new camera and will come over and take some pics. I need to call him. Tank is looking good. I added a couple of female Lyretail Anthias.
