anybody have an idea of what this is? it is about 7mm accross. it has no shell, seems to be some sort of snail or slug, but i cant find anything in my books that looks even close to this. it moves in a couple ways. it will slide over things like a snail, but will also move like an octopus and "walk" over things. i mostly see it layed out flat in a circle, but can be any shape. dangerous? beneficial?

Certainly has me baffled, but I'm a carpenter and can ID exotic woods much better than exotic mollusks, which is what you seem to have.

Keep him sequestered until you can get a good ID. I recently pulled a zoa-eating nudi from a rock I bought and had to ask on here what it was. I flushed him right away afterward.

Hold onto it until you get a few opinions. It looks really cool, so if it's benign otherwise, then you're in luck.

Please dont put it into your tank, it looks like a clam, snail eating flatworm... something exactly like that killed my clam, i saw it to late and it got away, just toss it, you wont regret it....

polyclad....a really small one. I have seen them around 5"

wanna see something cool........put him in a bowl or glass full of tankwater and swirl the water getting him swirling with it...........

dont put him back int he tank when you get done playing with him......

Your first pic is just a fragment of a worm. The bigger part is most likely still in the tank.

+1, good point.

Keep your eyes peeled. Maybe put a cerith snail on a fish hook, slap on a bobber, have a soda and wait for the jerk.

that would possibly explain some recent astrea snail deaths. if that is only part of it, i will definitely keep my eyes peeled for the rest of it. i have had a half-dead astrea laying on a rock for the last couple days. he's still kicking so far. i'll use him as bait.
