Strawberry short cake

Here's an old pic of mine, grown from a little frag. High flow, high light. Also, give it plenty of room to encrust.

I was told by two lfs that is a raspberry lemonade and a true ssc is completely red. I have the same coral as the one aboveand was sold to me as a rbl . they also had what they considered a ssc and looked different. Just wondering if that's the case.

Straight up amazing , can't wait for my little 2 inch frag to grow up like yours. How long did it take to grow to that size? Also can you at lest sell me a frag of that PM been looking for ever for a frag? Man simply amazing work thanks for sharing.

I have 2 different SSC frags (but extremely similar).
1 high up with high flow- Intensely colorful and showing good growth. Green is key-lime color and pink is vibrant. Super hairy polyp extension. Definitely a better placement IMO.

1 low with high/moderate flow- The acro is not as colorful nor has it grow up very much. It still has good color (more pastel green) but not as saturated as the higher light SSC. the pink is defined on the tips but not as intense. PE is less than higher light. It has fully encrusted and is starting to branch upwards but not nearly as fast as the higher light.

I have a frag of strawberry short cake that was cut from a wild colony. Its still somewhat brown and the tips are white. i had it 3/4 the way down in the tank for 2 weeks.. i recently put it at the top of the tank.. the brown got lighter and the tips got evan more whiter. I moved it back down to where it was.. i'm trying to acclimate it slowly to bright lite.. I do see some polyp exstention. Its very light tho.. I'm trying to keep this lil frag alive....

Wayne - Gorgeous colony, great colors. Well done, my hat is off to you.

I have mine high light, high flow. Good growth and color.

I made the mistake of over dipping it when I moved it from my 180 to 90 cube and it was completely white and pale. I didn't think it was going to make it, but I saw polyp extension so I left it in. A few weeks later color started coming back, now it's probably one of my most colorful pieces I have in the tank. Next only to my Oregon Tort and purple monster.

Here's mine from a small frag. Definitely not was nicely colored than the one above but it has a lot of growing up to do. I also have another frag from the same colony and it looks completely different. It's shaded under another coral so I think intense light is a must with SSC.

High flow, high light.

Do you think T5 can maintain SSC's nice color? Or it is required to have MH?

I have my SSC under my ATI sunpower 8x24...the colorful and strong grower is about 10" from my light.

So yes, definitely can be grown well under T5 lighting

Thanks Steve.
I bet you can grow a lot of stuff in that 24" cube with 8x24W T5. I was so close to get a power module but the sale ran out.
