Stunning Centropyge Hybrid

no one answered my question from before. would you think it would do better in my reef thats been running for almost 9 months or my QT that been running for 6 months? both are stable but ATM my reef doesn't have a skimmer running on it so i figured the QT would be better. and for some info on the QT it's a 38g with about 30 pounds of LR and maybe 40 pounds of sand. i am running a deltec mce300 on it. i also run 2 big bags of carbon and a vortech. i do 20-30% water changes weekly.

I say go for the reef if it's covered so the tigerpyge doesnt jump out, like it could in your solana.

the reef is my solana. i also think it would feel more comfortable because it could pick at the rocks and sponges.

Make sure the reef is covered either with eggcrate or glass. The fish hasn't been through massively loaded fish systems which will almost always have ich, this fish has been treated like gold. the most important part of QT is conditioning the fish and I think that the odds are in you favor that there will be no ich breakout. Of course, feed the Tiger'pyge garlic rich food to help it fend off ich and any other internal/external parasites.

i really just use the LR for them to hide so they feel more comfortable. i think i'm going to take the sand out though. easier to clean.

matt, do what you want. take advice, but pay no mind to people who have a problem with you or what you do. they need to get off their pedestals and offer advice.

if they like it or not, the fish is goign to you. if they care as much as they say they do, they would be more than happy to help and offer advice, after all, theyre experts right?

+1

Don't take the sand out silly. The last thing you want to do is mess with your whole biological system.

Are you fishkids Mult, parent, sibling, friend, etc? You consistently jump in and defend this guy time and time again. You also seem to know alot about what he intends to do. This fish should be going into either an established QT or display. Coincidence that both of you are also from Connecticut?

Am I a mult???
I wouldn't expect a Social Worker to act so childish.

And I jump in to defend him, sure. To me it just seems like you stalk him and seek to make him feel down, and talk about everything he's doing wrong, rather than what he should do to help the situation. I would expect more coming from a social worker.

and i ALWAYS soak my food in garlic.

I have found that soaking foods is a great source for introducing excess nutrients into the tank. I would recommend just feeding it for a day to see if you really even need to.

+1. I soak all my food in garlic as often as I can.

As much as it may seem that certain people may be against you Matt, there are plenty of others that want to see people be successful, especially with an awesome specimen ;)

Just make sure to take it slow and post pictures :p

You're a bad loser arent ya?

Im pretty sure coralite had one of the first chances on this fish...

Good no, GREAT luck with your new fish as I am one of those in the area who hope one day I get to see it in person. If you need a hand with setting up the 120gal I'm sure there are ARK members in the area that would be more than happy to help.

It's a holiday and we're closed, but I have to go in and take care of The Fish. Taking more pics today. It's in a 25 gallon tank with 2 Helfrichi firefish and a Candy bass. How cool is that?
