Stuns' Reef

 Saw that coming!

Ya know, I was sooo ready to purchase a RKL last fall for this exact reason, but I posted about it in one of their forums and got the most round about response on how I *might* need to use a high amp socket, but a seperate one not on the normal "outlet bar", but I *might* be able to get away with the normal "outlet bar". I replied, what?!? I'm telling YOU exactly what I need and what power consumption everything has and you're responding with *might* answers based on YOUR product? Are you kidding me right now?!?

Considering I would only use if to control temp I'm not too worried about their support and their "promises" about releasing new upgrades, but I'm still ticked off about what I was told. If I did that in my line of work we would be out of business!

Needless to say I was totally turned off the entire thing for awhile and knew my chiller wouldn't run much over the winter ;) It's still yet to turn on and we've had a couple 83°F days.

Do you have your heaters running on anything Mark?

Yep; You aren't the only one either :(

I am running my heaters off my apex now, but I was running it off my acjr in the past ;)

Apex has a lite version .

Economical? and you spent how much your tank?

Austin - I can think of a couple fish that would fit nicely in that tank :)

Also, not sure if you covered this, but are you "covering" the tank?

Yeah but it's $370! :eek1:

I'm not cheap by any means, but I try to be economical when there's other choices :beachbum:

You know the say you get what you pay for. Not that the RKL is bad, it just doesn't do what the later can. They have been promising some of those option for a few yrs now. Why wait when you can have them right out of the box :).

I just can't believe that someone would push a product like that, no matter what niche it's in. It really blew my mind... you can see the correspondence on another forum if you have any interest. Actually I think I might bump it up to see if I get a different response (and to stir the pot).

Shut up... too much! I love my tank :fun4: I prefer to spend mulah on things that swim :D

Touche, BUT, if all you're wanting to do is control temp... ?

Me too Chis!

Oh yeah, tank is covered all the time... except for pics, because it's ugly, until I figure out something better ;)

Yep, I'm Alfred, catering to Zorros every need in the cave.

Thanks Michael! Agreed, it's in the works!

Now... go update your thread :D

More vids from tonight, for the nay-sayers thinking she hides ;) This is what she's like when she's not sleeping; We call this pre-dinner:

Now for some Nori. That's the new TLF magnet clip, love it!

From the right side. She thought Mysis was coming again because I was standing so close to the tank, spoiled little...

These were taken with my P&S from work - not sure which camera is better.

WOW Austin,

LOVE that little Bandit, very pretty!!! Nice tank too, love the dimensions. Wish I could have gotten the 3' deep version like you got but it was too much more $$$ for 6 more inches. Oh well, can't complain.

Say, when does your Bandit's knight in shining armor arrive? Did you get it where I think you did??? If so, GOOD for you, can't go wrong!

I love my Gold Flake... I was so tempted to take the little Bandit that was swimming with him though when I got him, lol!~ I was really taken back with how stunning the two of them were together. :eek2:

I'll be tagging along for the ride if that's alright! :reading:

Cool Angel. Im haveing that same challange of a cover for the tank that dosent take away the clean look.

Thanks Dave!

There's a couple vendors on the hunt for me right now, one is where your GF came from and I believe he's actually in Hawaii right now! (fingers crossed ;))

This one didn't come from Michael though, came from another great vendor out of California. My friend Michael got the lil bandit from AT you saw... still kicking myself in the rear for not picking it up but glad it went to a great home :)

Your GF and tank is amazing, you have nothing to worry about for another 6" ;) Although, I can say that I'll never own a tank in the future not 36" front to back.

You can tag along for the ride, but it's a $50 charge. I take paypal ;)

Thanks!

If you look close in some of the vids (outside the tank), you can see the top I use... good ole ugly white eggcrate  I just don't show it in pics, but wouldn't dare not keeping a cover on this, simply not worth it! I have a couple ideas on what I'll be doing, and the change should come in the next couple months - one would involve some welding at work, everybody take cover!!!

Thanks!

OK, so I forgot that when keeping a light over the aquarium a bit of algae tends to grow on the glass :p Looks like I'll be getting out the scrubber tonight pre-water change (yeah, it's that time too...).

Picked up new filter socks not too long ago... absolutely love them! No more felt crap, these are nylon mesh and catch everything I want them too, along with being very hard to clog. I simply pull it out of the holder every couple days and rinse it our in the sink. I bought 8 (minimum order) and still haven't changed out the first one, just rinse and repeat :D

My "controller" Weekend project = finish wire cleanup and install these bad boys (bought 2). Will likely install a RKL for heater/chiller back-up control down the road.

She's doing well, eating everything that goes in the tank, but showing a few spots - no biggee assuming she keeps eating, will be introducing her to my friend Cupramine tonight or tomorrow ;)

That kinda the story with them. From the people I have talked to that have kept them long term they all seem to have ich issues. Most say that they are one of the touchest in that group. Eatting is a great sign though :).
