Stuns' Reef

glad to see the big tank up and running again Austin :D
Me too man, me too! The Mini was awesome, but it was VERY Mini ;)
Congrats, love the bandit. Looking forward to your fish selection.
Thanks, me too Dan.
Somehow I missed this thread... Very nice setup Austin. Like many said, the Apolemichthys arcuatus is beautiful.
Thanks Leo! Not much to see yet, but in due time my friend! I agree, the A. arcuatus are truly gorgeous!

Placed an order with Premium Aquatics this morning for some goodies, some of which were out of stock :( Nothing cool, but necessities and was hoping to have it Friday. Oh, I did get the new "magnetic" algae clip by Julian (TLF) though... stupid thing was $16! Better than dealing with suction cups or reaching for a rock with a rubberband on it though! The bandit will tug the rock around the entire aquarium, and he pulls the suction cups right off.

I hope its been improved as the seam used to leak over time. Your best bet is to remove it after feeding just to be safe ;)

Really? Crap, that's not good! I remove them after feeding anyways, but still... Is this the "new" one you're referring to Mark? I watched for them to bring these in and it's the first time I've seen them there.

Here it is: http://premiumaquatics.com/store/me...Product_Code=TLF-VM1&Category_Code=targetfeed

If that's the one I'll likely remove it from my order before it ships ;)

Thats a new one so let me know how it goes. I've recently noticed that my hammerfloat does not float anymore. That can't be a good thing :(

Phew, good to know. Will keep you posted!

I think I'm actually going to alter my order to incllude a light as well... yes, you read that right, a light!!!

You go that right Mike! I'll likely be adding a couple of the easier one's, I can't get into continuously dosing in this size tank (yet ;)). I'll live vicariously through you and other Mike until then :D I really like the looks of Diodogorgia nodulifera. I am a bit skeptical of what my angel will think of the polyps though :worried: He tends to pick food out of the Dendrophyllia on occasion, which doesn't bother me or them, but might bother smaller more fragile polyps.

Regardless I want to add some "branching" form of coral, gorgs are a great choice, and my other thought is Duncanopsammia axifuga, which of course would take me into the at least somewhat photosynthetic realm. It would add a nice touch of green too though, and keep me on the stocking level of "highly predatious" coral.

Can you get your hands on any of the branching black corals? Like this Leiopathes sp.

I doubt it, but maybe something similar... and if you can, I WANT :)

Mike, I haven't seen any branching black corals offered before, but there's really been no demand for them. I suspsect that with the recent influx of Cirrhipathes spiralis
collectors should be able to find something along those lines... will keep you posted!

Picked up my light last night - sooo exciting to see my corals and fish under non-ambient room lighting  It came with your average bulbs, a 10K and an actinic, but I have a Fiji Purple and ATI Blue+ to play with coming from premium along with the rest of my order next week. I need to figure out how I want to mount the thing so I can get it hung and truly enjoy the light. Will post pics next week sometime once the order comes in (and I get around to taking and loading pics :D).

The most high-tech, technologically advanced light known to reefers... unfortunately I cannot recall much more than that :p

It's a VERY simple 2 x 24W T5HO fixture with 4 moolight LEDs. I've never heard of the brand before, but I've known several of the folks at the LFS next to me and a couple of them have used these for a while now. This is a step up from Current and Coralife (obviously) according to them, plus it has moonlights - SOLD!

Its a rough crown on Fridays :hammer: Hopefully Austin has learned most of our posting is in fun :celeb3:

Austin is spending all his money on fish, so he's got to cut corners somewhere :lmao:
So true!

I spend $ on things that die

One of the beauties of NPS - they don't give a damn about light! (But they make up for it in how much some of them cost :o)
Besides Kenny, Its not like Austin can keep acros so he really doesn't need good lights

Makin' me search back and pull out the guns now are ya? This was well before I sucked with a camera like I do now.. I really, really sucked then! Back when it was the thing to get itty bitty tiny frags, all were 1/2" or less at one point

Thats a start :) Kenny, we'll get Austin back into keeping sticks and we'll get Sara with an Angel or two before we're finished

HAH! GL my friends! I enjoy never testing and using IO salt, and poor Sara had the worst luck with the one "reef safe" genus of angelfish.

Plus, can your stick polyps do this?

(sequence shot by juniormc8704, now this rhizo resides in my tank - Pseudanthias bartlettorum still haunts nightly)

I think not! :p
