I agree... Very nice. What is it's official name?

Thanks. It was listed as an Aussie acan. There were several from a resent shipment and although this one has a small dead spot (coralline encrusted), I thought my wife would like the color best.

Good pickup. I hope that will keep her quiet for a bit... if not tell us and we can come over and bring some more 'WAF' (wife appreciation factor) gifts... hahahahha

Did you end up doing the Prazipro treatment? I just started my second round last night. Did a water change yesterday afternoon and added another full treatment or prazi last night. Still no casualties. Cautiously optimistic about the trigger. Hes still pretty skinny, its only been a week, but his belly seems more "normal" if that makes sense. Not as "Bumpy " as before and he's still eating. Achillies tang is doing stellar (knock on wood). Eating mysis like a boss and grazing nori all day while on the clip. Seems like he's gonna be the boss of the tank already. How is yours doing?

Wife is amazing! She really is a blessing in my life. We had seen an Aussie acan colony a few weeks ago at an LFS, but they were asking something like $400.00 for it, which seemed excessive. I tried to find a frag locally, but was unsuccessful. The one I purchased is the closest I have found. She seems pretty happy with the purchase :D

I am glad the Achilles is doing well. I almost lost my second one, but there is hope. He started eating again today after three days of refusing to feed. I decided to use chloriquin instead as I had ich and marine velvet and the hypo was not working quickly enough. It's been two days and I am seing marked improvement in health of the fish.

If they survive this, I am DONE adding fish altogether.

Nice shots and nice acan. Good to see things going well in the tank.

Thanks. I purchased a magnesium test kit today and found the mag at 1050. That explains the tissue resceding on some of the lps. I did a lugols dip and started dosing mag. Per my calculations, I need to add 1900 mg (4 bottles) in order to get the level to 1250. Major miss on my part. I'm thinking the mangrove may have contributed to the rapid depletion of the mag.

Thoughts?

Recently had the same issues. I am contributing mine to the Kalk Top-off.

I have heard that mangroves can deplete your mag pretty good. You must have some trees growing in that tank.

Only one at the moment. But this is the first time that I've ever had a challenge with low magnesium, in many years of reef-keeping. I dosed magnesium yesterday and again early this morning. I tested when I came home from work and found it at 1300. I may have raised it too fast as some of the LPS look a little beat up today. I won't does anything else tonight or tomorrow morning and will do a 75 gallon water change when I get home.

I will keep you guys posted on progress.

On a positive note the fish are all back to looking healthy. The chloroquine really is a miracle cure. The Achilles looked like he was going to die a certain death earlier this week. This evening he looks almost perfect, healthy and eating again, even swimming around the QT. I could not be happier with the progress the fish have made in the last three days.

I have never dosed kalk but have been kicking the idea around lately. Not sure I am ready to add another variable into the equation.

How quickly did you raise your mag up to appropriate levels? I think I may have overdone it.

Hey Armando, How tall is your tank from bottom of the bottom rim to top of the top rim?

Exactly 25". I wish it was a bit shorter. Next tank I will likely go 22", so I can reach the bottom.

I added a frame along the top to hide the trim and the screen.

That made the floor a bit more difficult to reach.

How tall is yours?

Kalk is the only dosing I do, well except for Mag now.

I did it over a few days along with a large water change.
