Sump help

Looks good....might want to replace the clamps to the plastic ones, unless they are going to be out of water....(especially the one for the return pump side

Joy, first, let’s get the sump in place, hang the overflow on the tank and take a picture of how that’s laid out and then we can go from there.😉

Oh, and based on your username, I’ve assumed your name is Joy. If that’s not correct my apologies.

Yes, you don’t want those metal hose clamp in the water. Outside is fine, but not in the water.

As pictured, sump with return into red pipe, that's the large grey pool hose.
Water will fill & flow into sock then into skimmer chamber.
Skimmer in the middle chamber
Return pump in far right chamber, clear hose from pump to U shaped fitting over the tank rim held by plastic clamps.
Auto top off should go into the pump chamber as that is where evaporation will show up.
You will need to watch the level if you don't have an ATO yet.
A picture will tell us if you did it correctly.

Thank you! I plan to try to get it together later this evening or tomorrow morning

@Joypaws83 a couple of things here.

Do you have PVC cement to glue the tubing to the overflow?

Your overflow has two drains and your sump only has a place for one of those drains to go. You might need another grey drain tube and run it just directly into the sump. My apologies if I steered you wrong in the overflow to buy.

I’m a very hands on visual person, so I tend to envision things in person better.

No worries. I did notice that and saw one at my LFS this past weekend and plan to get one there. It may not be until this weekend as I literally have no time throughout the work week 😒

I hear you about the work week. With the project I’m running right now I’m averaging 10-12 hour days. I make time to feed the fish and anemones every night. But I’m lucky to have time to clean the glass or the skimmer cup.

Yep! After waking up at 5am, running 3 miles, working almost 9 hours, gym, making dinner, and these new clowns giving me anxiety, I’m pretty much done for the day and want nothing more than to relax!

This was on my overflow box from LifeReef. Is this for vinyl tubbing? Do I still PVC cement, or will clamps be needed?
